God work there sonny, definietly gives it a more purposeful finish rather than a DIY instal. The gauze is a good idea too, I doubt you'll notice the difference between having it there and not performancce wise but maybe good to curtail stray debris getting in there.

True but better that mulch gets stopped there and the air filter still has optimum performance for air flow from main / other source than mulch inhibiting the performance of the air filter.

I split mine, and fixed the the bottom half back on. So at a later stage I could put it back together if I want.
Only modification I made was to a large plastic tab that stuck out (in red circle), I simply cut 4mm off the end, so the 89mm tubing slides over and fastened with a jubilee clip, this also acts as a lip to keep the ducting in place.
If you are still running with the IM flaps or IM vacuum system then you will need to trick the car in thinking the air box flap is still there. MRC fitted a resister/bypass switch (cant remember what it was, will get back to you as soon as I remember/find out).
Dont have any pics of the ducting connected to the air box, but there's a few pics kicking around on this site.

Thanks Graeme, yes I like the look of it, I purchased the mesh as I remember reading somewhere that mice/rats had made a nest in an owners car airbox (cant remember what forum it was) I know these are popular in the states, also it does help preserve the life of the air filter. Only does side I am guessing will be stone chips, but at a tenner its a cheap replacement.

As the car is off the road waiting for a drc repair i thought i would Take the bumper off after work tonight, ready to do this mod Saturday
Sonny/all, a quick few questions if you didn't mind before I start:
1. I notice the aux rad ducting is actually fixed to the aux rad, obviously this is being removed, how did you re-fit the ducting after? Zip ties, brackets or something?
2. I assume if I just block the vacuum pipe to the airbox flap, this will be job done?
3. I couldn't see the radiator drain plug after a quick look, normally a plastic red plug isn't it? Anyone know where?
3. My light washer jets don't seem to work, firstly I assume they should just work when the lights and ignition are on? Secondly they look like they just pop out/work on water pressure so I think the pump must be f####d?
P.s I know what to do with the water pipes thanks to mrc

im thinking of having a go at this myself so if i can add a couple of questions,
is 89mm pipe the largest diameter that will comfortably fit?, i dont mind modifying the airbox a little bit if needs be.
also what connectors would i need for the water pipes when i delete the radiator?.
