Turns out it was water in the throttle sensor.
Audi had it for 5 days and came back with a £900 bill. Thank god for warranty !
But it's off the road AGAIN and I'm getting fed up. Been on hols with the family and have way through the 300 mile journey home the EPC light comes on... Followed by the engine management light.
Audi assist called out for the third time in seven weeks of ownership. Turns out to be the engine manifold flats not working. The arms that operate the flaps would not move. Not a roadside fix but safe to drive so got back home and into the dealers.
Losing faith in this car pretty quickly now, it's been into Audi 5 times in seven weeks for repairs and paint issues. Totalling 2 weeks in their garage.
I'm on holiday for another week so I have just left I with them, and been given a dog of a Volvo to drive to the airport.

The flaps wouldn't move at all? You can normally push the white controlling arms that are visible down betwen the front of the engine and the raditator with a flathead screwdriver, or my roadside tech certainly did when I had these codes. Audi will say it will need a new manifold. When your Roadside (was it an Audi or RAC guy) tech came out did they put on the diagnostic comupter and show you the flap movement angles when testing the controllong arms?
Water in the throttle sensor is certainly not something I have ever heard of in an RS4 so you appear to have been unlucky there.

All of the above pg. Ran diagnostic and did all the checks but couldn't move the controlling arms. He said it was making all the right clicking and tested the vacuum but the arms were stuck solid.

Re: HELP -Traction control and epc light limp mode
Mine did that so just used it as an excuse to get a ported deflated manifold wi a miltek
If both flaps are sticking then either it's really clogged up or the vacuum solenoid that is shared between both actuators is probably gone.
You can test the vacuum system with a gauge and VCDS - there's a great tech article showing what each vacuum line does and there's a big junction of they key system right in front of the flap actuator

What's a deflated manifold?
The tech article - got a link?

Re: HELP -Traction control and epc light limp mode
water in the throttle sensor. interesting. mine did that or something remarkably similar.
whilst chugging along a soaking wet M3 in the summer - the first time it had rained for ages and suddenly the dashboard lights up and as you say no power and limp mode on the motorway.
the missus was particularly unamused on this wet sunday evening with taylora junior in the back.
was told it was a faulty wiring loom for the throttle, nothing to do with water, bad recorded readings etc etc. seems too much of a coincidence that we were humming along in a total downpour...
interestingly i'd had it 5 months at the time and the garage tried to explain how wiring problems were not covered by the audi warranty but 'dont worry the part won't be too expensive'. after a little negotiation they agreed that it was a little egregious to expect me to pick up the tab so soon after purchasing the car.
right now they are checking if a shock leaking oil is a warranty item or £1300 in my direction - news to them that its an endemic fault..
