Did any one notice the minichamps model RS4 that was on the table of the last series, I think this was a secrete show of respect.
If you have a look on fastestlaps.com you'll see it did a 1:25.6, which is only 0.3 seconds behind the M3. Considering it was supposed to be that much better a car the M3 isn't that much quicker.

From wikipedia:
Top Gear Series 7. BBC 2. 2005-11-20. No. 2. Jeremy Clarkson: "You know we put it around the track this morning, with the Stig driving it, OK, 1:25-point-something." – Actual lap not shown. Also Clarkson said that the RS4 is "more than a second quicker than the Cayman ", so the RS4 is at least 1:25.7 around the track.

FastestLaps has it listed as 1:25.6 which is quite an impressive time.

im not sure there are any "cool" Audi's in the current range

maybe just the A1 and R8 ...

all the cool audi's are RS avants ... of which there are none in production

The Top Gear track fastest times on Fastestlaps.com is quite an interesting read, Gallardo spyder 125.7, 0.1 slower than RS4?
Wonder what an MRC'd RS4 would do it in?

Audi's mass market popularity is great for sales, it is the hottest brand at the mo but definitely not the coolest.

Somehow they have managed to completely capture what the typical BMW buyer wants and no longer gets from BMW.
As a result there is huge cross over between the two marques and also the driving styles of the drivers.

Looking at what Sytner group get in px via their trade web site, each marque gets a lot of the other marque's cars in px.
I suspect BMW drivers buy Audis because they can get about when there's a frost and Audi drivers buy BMWs for better customer service.

If you want to be different these days I'd say Jaguar (XFR is sooo cool) or Saab, only downside is depreciation will be huge because of the lack of demand for these on the used market.

Top Gear is an ego trip and cover for the three of them to drive the cars they want, relive their childhood by smashing up what they want and meet celebs who have no idea it's uncool to appear now.........they are all irritating idiots. I record it but never watch it....must turn of series link!!!

who have no idea it's uncool to appear now
they just want to promote some film/book and I am sure the Amber Heard film will do well as a result, as will her back catalogue :)

It's only a TV programme guys...why get so worked up?! If you're happy with what you're driving then fine. You can't please all of the people all of the time and personally, I wouldn't even try to.

as you say you never saw the lap, but clarkson said it did a lap in the 1min 25s, he says that its over a second quicker than the cayman which did a 1:26.2 (have a look here at about 12mins 35 secs) dunno if its wet or dry lap tho

back on topic, TG is occasionally entertaining, but often disappointing. I saw that all the audis were uncool, but so is the porsche C2s, which I really like and will probably get next, so its all tosh!
