Iain, doesn't the handbook mention reason for 'TPMS' warning in DIS on another page?

Nice one Weenie and thanks for reporting back the results of the antenna swap.
So far then, warning from start up = dead antenna
Warning 10 mins in = faulty/non paired sensors.

On the car I put the antenna on, it's quite possible it has both as it had an antenna fault logged but the yellow warning light continues

I'll take the bumper off at the weekend to see how much aberdeen dirt there is over the sensor.
you don't need to take the bumper off, just pop the honeycombe panel out

Details here (though I now see you have read that!)

How do you turn off the TPMS so that I stop getting that annoying beep on start up? I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything. Can it be done by VAGCOM?
I disabled my TPMS using VAGcom last month, i googled it, easy fix to implement.

Select -> 17-Instruments -> Adaptation -> Channel 61.

Subtract 512 from whatever value you find there.

Nice one, thanks although that would be too easy!

Thought I would have a look inside the antena to actually see what had broken!

Looks like water had got inside through what looks like is ment to be a drain hole. Circuit board is corroded/burnt up. Quality german engineering again!

On another note, I drove an RS4 with TPMS issues today. Warning would come on after 10-15 mins driving, not from start up.
Had just had a set of new sensors, 2nd set in 4 months - not sure on the history but the old sensors were in the armrest dated 2010!
VCDS said no communication from sensors.
As soon as error came on, I used the DIS while still driving to run the wheel change procedure and it seems to have worked.
The DIS displayed the message 'running pressure scan' for around 10 seconds then it went back to normal display with no error message.
Drove for a further 20 mins with light staying off.
So not the aerial this time!

is there a way to have the car check if the sensors are working fine or they are gone/battery dead?
or only an Audi Center can diagnose that?

"bullshit...you can be mine!"

VAG-COM can interrogate all the wheel sensors (after a run) for pressure, temperature and battery level.

If the system is active i.e. you can access setting via the DIS then the sensors will be working.
To test, after a longish drive, keep engine running and deflate a tyre.

Do you have the part number for the antenna? I fitted the summer wheels back on earlier this week. Unsurprisingly the fault is still there so plan to swop out the antenna.
cheers

Swapped summer wheels back on this week and fault is still there so must be the antenna. Car is going in for MOT and coilpack recall on Thursday so I will get them to change the antenna too.

Changing antenna through service department too complicted, wanted to run diagnostics etc. Very helpful parts department though sold me a new antenna. Honeycomb panel popped out last night, antenna swapped. TPMS fully working again.
