True Dave, I used to transit on the M55 all the time when I used to live in Blackpool and seen it a bit on there.

Surely they can't entice you into a drag race and then book you for it. Surely, that would be like being an accessory to the offence themselves?

There are 2 unmarked Warwickshire Constabulary R32 on M40 and M42, if there ever was a car that you wanted to race to show the driver it wasn't as fast as he thought - it must be great being Plod driving that thing around!

One thing to remember, that traffic police never drive unmarked. Also its not a offence if you dont stop for an unmarked car either...the pros to having a traffic Police officer as your next door neighbour ;)

Eh? I've seen them on traffic cops - there was an unmarked R32 in Hampshire.
The Warwickshire cars are definitely traffic as one of the drivers is one of my customers, they also have a Mountune Focus ST

I dont watch it, he must be telling me porkies then. However this could just be limited to the Met/ London area traffic police.

Its not cricket but they can!
Something similar happened to me a few years back when I was picking up my old Escort Cossie after it had been in for its MOT.

Mate gave me a lift out in his CRX to collect and was gonna follow me back into Aberdeen.
The garage was a small one in the middle of the country (the only one sympathetic enough to disregard the crazy emissions my thing was putting out)
It was middle of winter, raining and dark so the headlights following me I assumed were my friend as I don't recall anyone nipping out between us.
Was sitting below speed limit and noticed my mate was following uncomfortably close so I upped the speed a bit... and he did the same.
I upped it a little more and he did the same.
Was thinking this was out of character for him especially since he didn't know these back roads and before setting off had asked me not to take off and leave him; plus his thing stood no chance against mine.

He was right on my tail now so I dropped a gear and booted it to open up the gap....... seconds later the flashing blue strobes were on.
Doh!

Pulled into the side of the road and was out before the copper got to my door.
Little ginger prick had the worst case of small man syndrome I had ever encountered, he was swearing, yelling and going absolutely ballistic at me before I even had the chance to speak.
I was still waiting for good cop to climb out the passenger side but when I looked up I noticed not only was it an unmarked car but it was empty too - he was on his own. Boost!

I didn't see the point in trying to protest against the way he clearly baited me - especially with his attitude - so listened to his condescending lecture with a smug grin knowing there was FA he could do.
Before getting back into his car he had final go at me and threw in another comment about how I shouldn't underestimate the power of his Omega as my thing apparently stood no chance!

Must...... keep....... mouth......shut...... don't........speak...... back......

I find i have more problems when driving the girlfriends Panda 100HP with people cutting me up not letting me out/in tailgating etc than i do in the RS - seems to gain a bit more respect or road presence? Who knows but it is definitely the case.

Pie you did very well not to react. Not sure i could have kept my mouth shut. Lucky for me i have never been pulled (yet)....

Both Hampshire and Essex traffic Police have unmarked cars - and Essex are well know for tailgating in an attempt to make you speed, when they turn the blues & twos on and give you a ticket!

My wife works for Glos Constabulary and as Sonny says, you don't have to pull over for an unmarked car. Indeed, Glos police recommend you do not pull over for an unmarked car as there have been lots of incidents where the unmarked car is actually that of car thiefs/hijackers.

So, if you don't stop does the unmarked car give up after a certain period or do they arrange for a marked car to join the chase?

That's entrapment and illegal.

You're right - but the reality is that magistrates and judges believe the Police Officer and not the "Joe Public" - so the Police get away with breaking the law.

I had a problem once in my A4. I just pointed to some obscure thing on the rear, showed him the large Tv screen in the cabin & then showed him the SD cards where "the video" gets recorded onto.

A tiny weeny lie, but it did the job.
