Oil consumption

My 08 cab.. about .25 quart per 1500 miles (or less). Oil looks VERY clean..

Our '08 A4 2.0T.. totally different story.. drinks oil like CRAZY (nearly 1qt per 1000 miles in stop and go traffic) and the oil looks filthy in under 500 miles. My wife's car, so I know she doesn't beat on it.

You might be surprised, asked to look at my Dad's car (2009 R32 Passat owned from new) as oil light was on (8k miles). Topped up with 1 litre of oil to get back to full asked when last checked, blank look. Next day we are going out take his car, whilst not red-lined was revved from cold as if normal driving so even those who don't tear around can be mechanically very un-sympathetic.

I don't have an RS YET but my S4 Tip uses a lot more if I drive in +/-. If I'm in auto it burns bugger all.
