I went to swindon Audi today the service guy had a feel of it and said it wasn't right they said it was the clutch cover plate also the guy who has already done the work said it was the same thing and that the clutch would need changing he was a bit surprised because of the mileage looks like someone been trying to launch it F**KING car dealers. Audi said the guy who done the work already was very knowledgeable and knows his stuff so will be taking it back there looks like lloyd mini will have to cough up more money

so do i, i think they have to by law, they sold the car with this fault and i think they have 3 attempts to put the fault right or i can ask for my money back, this is what car dealers i do work for tell me, cause its the clutch cover and not the clutch its not wear and tear so they might be able to claim something off the warranty company, anyway if they don't put it right i will be parking it through their showroom window lol

what is a 'clutch cover'?
do you mean the 'pressure plate' vs. clutch disc
or the bell housing and transmission itself?
both are considered wear and tear items, but if they fail or do not operate properly due to a manufacturing defect, they will be replaced...
they will not know until they open it up and measure/inspect it

was he implying that it was 'launched' and that may have damaged or prematurely worn it out? due to the low mileage on the unit

Looks like my Rs4 might be going back to Lloyd mini, they are trying to worm their way out of paying for a new clutch. They said they might have to buy the car back off me, i think he was bluffing cos he knows i want it, but if they are not going to pay for it then they will have buy it back I'm not paying for it.
What do you guys think, i brought the car with this fault i reported it the day after i got it they have payed for the cylinders and stuff but it hasn't solved it, where do you think i stand ? it would cost them more in the long run to buy it back surely.

I think they would just shift it via the trade, so some other dealer would have the cost and hassle.

Hi Guys

I have exactly the same issue as described by ^Qwerty^. Spirted driving and clutch staying down. So far had pipe changed, then mater cylinder. Still not fixed but yesterday managed to get Steve (master techie at Camberly audi) out in the car and it did it for him !!!

Car is back in shop now and they are taking the engine out so they can crack the clutch open. Suspected "thrust bearing sticking on shaft" or something very technical like that. I will post when fixed.

All covered on Audi warranty - phew

Still no phone call - I expected them to ring first thing this morning to say it was ready but never mind.

Got the car back last night. I thought they had cracked it, but after a 10-15minute drive down the A63 in sixth, it stuck again as I was changing down the box to turn in to Howden. Seemed quite odd, as the pedal didn't return slowly as it had done before, I can only best describe it as 'slammed' in to my foot. Prior to the work they have just done, it used to stay down and slowly rise up.

Not done it on they way in to work this morning, so I'll see how it goes.

Top service from the garage though - must be said.

All of this got changed on mine
master cylinder
slave cylinder
cap
bush
lever
spring
pipe
and it still didn't sort it it improved it there was no play at the top anymore but i still weren't retuning right so its gone back to the garage i brought it from i have stumped up the money for the flywheel (over £700) and they are changing the clutch they said if the flywheel looked OK they wont change it and i know they didn't want to pay for one if they could help it so i brought it myself for my own piece of mind, silly not to put one in if its all apart. There is nothing else it could be everything would have been changed.
would you say yours returns ok now?
