I've done all by myself. Bose really sounds too poor.
So basicly rear door speakers and sub were disconnected. All front speakers were replaced. Audisson Bit One.1 processor was added. Headunit was left untoched, just line-outs were done.

I had an S3 some time ago with Bose fitted. I decided to get a new head unit one day and found that it was all or nothing. To upgrade the bose the whole system had te be removed and replaced you couldn't just add to it. It turned into a very expensive project for very little gain. £2k down the line I had something sounding very little better than the standard system and I was very disappointed indeed!

Jean-Pierre,

You will not go wrong at all by using Chris @ Chorley Car Audio. his reputation precedes him! I had never met Chris before, but the feedback I had from fellow MK5 R32 owners from R32oc.com was that his workmanship, honesty and knowledge of ICE was second to none.

As we all drive these cars for the quality rather than based on the economics of getting from A-B I would politely suggest that Chris is not the cheapest (nor does he proclaim to be). If you want a cheap box, with little support for the product inside go to Bass Junkies or the like, for a few pounds more I would always prefer to have the peace of mind that there are no short circuits round the corner, or troublesome warranty issues, and ultimately, that the modification to the car is worthy of being in the RS4 (whether you can see it or not (tidyness of wiring etc)

On that basis I flew Chris out to Dubai to work on my RS4 when it replaced my R32. the RS4 was treated to a new double din headunit and replacement speakers (the Focals are awesome). Workmanship and product support out here is abismal, Chris comes with my 100% recommendation. Not only have I now got amazing car audio clarity, i also have a superb friend in Chris, so much so we are off skiing in February together.

I'd be interested to know what kind of headunit replaced your RNS-E?

I'm not too sure I had an RNS-e (the RS4's over here in Dubai seemed to mostly come with Concert H/U's) NOTE: No choice of specs overe here like in the rest of the world, you have a choice of what the dealer pre-orders.

I replaced mine with the Kenwood DDX 8022, although it was not Chris's No.1 recommendation I preffered the looks of this unit as it was completely 'button free'. The Focal speakers are awesome, replaced both the mid range and tweeters in the doors.

However when it rains I need to put the windows up and turn my attention to the stereo, which is when it annoys me. I can live with it but thought some one might have ideas how to improve it. I guess I was expecting more when Audis own stereo is far superior to the supposed upgraded BOSE system.
