same here

Same here. Just motorway miles and easy going A/B roads. Too much traffic for a heavy pedal.

Just this week did a trip from 40 miles north of perth to birmingham on one tank (391 miles) with 10 miles left on dis travelling between 80 and 90 mostly.I do tweek the nipple in the neck to get in the extra gallon though!! av 30 mpg so I think considering the car it is good on fuel , though around town can be a different story

30mpg? You did well! I was getting 27 when I drove down the A9 past your way to Gleneagles a few weeks ago and I thought that was amazingly high considering I normally get around 16  Your right foot must be helium filled compared to mine!

Honestly, find it amazing that you got to Brum on one tank. I used around half a tank from Inverness-->Gleneagles-->Perth which is 143 miles according to viamichelin and the A9 was dead quiet.

30mpg is amazing!!! The best I've done in over 28,000 miles is 28mpg when pottering in the south of France.

I've had 29.7 mpg but never broken the magical 30mpg over a long distance journey

Surprised me too , had 29 once before but more usually mid twenties . was the brother in law did the calculation , think he was v. worried over fuel costs for the journey and was pleasantly surprised!! He drove at least half way but is sitting on 9 points so perhaps he is more careful than the rest of us!!

Was that at 56mph? I've never seen more than 24 on mine - mind you only had it two months!

What does driving at 56mph feel like because I never see that unless in second gear!

Dont think I could sit long at 56!!! Once I picked him up we did the 350 miles from perth to brum in under 5 hrs , but I agree we certainly set no land speed records . need to get a laser jammer first , both too frightened of more points !!

I've got about 120 miles or so to do today, to Surrey and back, I might see what I can get out of her......then again I probably won't, there are some good roads from Chichester to Petworth and beyond, I'll let you know later how I get on

Slightly off-topic but similar anyway.. I drove to Great Yarmouth and back in my old D2 S8 (N/A V8, 360hp for those who don't know). I got precisely on the nose 30.0mpg. I had to drive extraordinarily carefully to achieve this mind you!!

Had a play with a TVR on the way, so ended up around 19mpg for the journey there and back - Still showed him my tailpipes though, nothing serious or over 100mph, but what did make me laugh was coming up to one roundabout, whilst braking, his boot popped open - They are such a heap of <beep>!

If you'd put cruise control on 70mph the whole way you would have got more than 30mpg.

Iv got an RS6 and doesnt benefit from FSI and is a fat bastard, but I always put cruise on 70mph on long motorway journeys and reguarly get 28-30mpg the max an RS6 can do)

You'd be suprised how little time you save doing 80mph, vs 70mph but how much more £££ fuel you'd save !

Dont get me wrong, this is advised only for long boring motorways, the rest of the time bury the right foot and to hell with the mpg !
