So I have just filled up to the brim today and pushed the fuel filler nub twice for ten seconds to get.... 65.91 litres in the tank with a range of 30 miles left on the DIS and the fuel needle not touching the red line.
So surely that equates to at a 70 litre tank?

If you can only get in less than 60 litres then you may have a problem.
BTW are you using the button in the filler neck? Pushing (or pulling) that lets you get an extra 5-7 litres in the tank.

Unless the four different petrol stations I have used are all over exaggerating what they are putting in my car then I have to disagree. I have had a 10 mile DIS range and still managed to get in 61-63 litres.

B7 RS4 fuel tank is
supposed to be 63 litres.

Don't know how accurate this is for that car though.. I'm supposed to have an 82 litre and I always seem to be right on that if I fill up from empty, so it's accurate on mine at least.

I managed to squeeze 70 litres in to my B7 a few times by using the air release button.

I've never used the button! I will use that then report back, an extra 30 miles added to the range would be lovely. Thanks

I know this is the RS4 section, but out of interest, does any wise folk know if this secret button is on the RS6 by any chance? If I did then in theory would have just under 90 litres! If not, hey ho..

So just to verify the tank must be some 70 litres as I have just run my RS4 to 0 miles on the DIS, and then did some extra 15 miles after thatso the dial is off the red line on the gauge but dtill going! Just filled up with... 67.5 litres for just over £60.
So anyone up for running their RS4 after the DIS reaches 0 miles until it cuts out to see how much extra in the tank there is?

I'm not sure if its an urban myth, but doesn't the fuel cool the injectors?
With an FSI engine, I'd imagine running the car dry is a pretty silly idea...
Kudos to any volunteers though.

It appears to be an tank air release valve, lets the air out so more space to fill with petrol. Either that or it allows fuel into a reserve duct?
