Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't think the chap at Audi UK knew what he was talking about. I asked him if a track day would void the warranty, then why did Audi put a lap timer in the dash - he couldn't come up with a sensible answer.

Yeah but Lotus say same thing about the fact they build cars with a definite track bias but wording on the warranties suggest it could void your warranty ... never had an issue in reality

I received a similar email last week from Richard Starkey last week.

I also asked about the possible fitment of aftermarket shocks by Audi, and though the answer was also a "No" the more plausible reason was that of product liability requirements.

He said they are "likely" to release a modified shock "shortley", and that they were finalising the steps to support customers with issues.

Looks promising. Especially since it looks like there are issues coming back on my car for the 3rd time..........

are DRC issues visible without a ramp and does someone have a pic? - my car is going in for tyres and want to check it over beforehand

It is really hard to see the problem without having the wheels off. Where is the car going in for tires? If it is a tire garage, just ask them if you can have a look under the car (at the front shocks) whilest the wheels are off.

Otherwise, I have had some luck just jacking the car up at the front, and then sticking a camera-phone behind the wheel and getting a snap of the shock to see what is going on.

I managed to take the photo half way down this thread http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ht=#275863 without jacking the car - just sticking my digital camera under the wheel arch. I think the rear shocks have covers, though, so I don't think you'd be able to do it with the rears.
In any case, just because you can't see the problem, doesn't mean it's OK!

Incidentally - the garage said the leaking shown in the photo was "within acceptable parameters" so didn't do anything about it.

Have you taken it back since to let them have another look at it? It's not going to get any better, that's for sure.

I, too, have had the "leaking within acceptable parameters" verbal response.

I am tempted to get this clarified in writing because how the hell do you ascertain this to be the case? I mean the leak isn't measurable is it?

Well, no one measured my leakage....if you see what I mean.

Its just a way of palming you off to avoid the potential warranty issue.

I'm just waiting for my first service to come up in a couple of months, for which I will take it to a specialist, and, then, based on their third party opinion, will decide how to move the issue forward in my particular case.

The system definitely isn't right inspite of their assurances to date.

Yep, same here. Will be interesting to see what Audi offer in terms of warranty extension.

I'd rather have the system replaced inside warranty with a system that won't keep failing............

I've still got 7 months warrantee left, but rest assured I'll be taking it back in the near future, even if I don't notice it getting worse. I'll then be demanding they either fix it, or undertake to do so if it gets worse even once the car is out of warrantee since I'd identified the problem while the warantee was still current.

I'm sort of half hoping some improvement will be made shortly so if they are replaced the fix will be permanent - it seems at the moment if I get them replaced, the new ones are likely to give out pretty quickly.
