Tyre selection
Hi guys,
thanks for all the feedback, it all makes interesting reading - I've had Good Year Eagles on a couple of older cars and hated them, so it seems I'll either stick with the Pirelli's or try to Conti's

Chillin,
I tried to get the new Goodyears as I have also run with Eagles in the past which had great dry grip, when warmed up, but my fitter couldn't get a set so I went for the Conti 3's instead which seem quieter than the Pirellis. Did manage to get the Goodyears for my other car, an A3.
Downside I have noticed on the Contis is almost no rim protection.

Anyone tried Dunlop SP9000 XL's?
On Pneus online they come out very well (better than any of the above) and are very cheap too. I ran them on my M3 and they were great, 35k miles and 3 or 4 mm of tread left. Had them on the B5 S4, and it would spin all wheels in 2nd in the dry...! My fronts are getting on for being illegal so I need to make a call very soon.

PS2s get my vote once more, and have recently renewed all four on my RS4 after 16K+ miles of enthusiastic driving... Had them on my previous B6 S4 and typically got 18 - 19K miles on a set (S4 was supplied with Contis, changed them ASAP). I have used Pirellis in the past an found they wear quicker than the PS2s IMO.
Daytona RS4 Avant - Getting better by the day...
I have conti's on my rs4, it just came with them when it was new 9300 miles later and they are all but down the the markers, no curbing protection either. Going for Pilot Sports this time oh! and a new wheel don't park in the main Car Park in Tenby west Wales its entrance is very poorly designed £2.00 a day plus £400 for a new Rim happy holidays.

Had SP9000's on my previous BM. Generally pretty good.
My tyres are coming up for replacement, so I have been looking at whats out there.
I agree the conti 3's have no rim protection. Nearly 50K miles in the BM withougt a mark on the alloys. 8K in the RS4 and all 4 alloys needed refurb
What trye size are people running?
Its just the Conti's on my car are 255-35-R19's and Tartan Bob said he was goign for 265-30-R19's....

I believe 265/30/19 will throw your speedometer out more. I find oem 255/35/19 is already about 6-8 kph faster than true speed (Sat Nav speed).
My P Zero are also due in a few months, done 10500kms with 3 track days. The rim protection of P Zero has been superb, a few times I thought I would have curbed the wheel but nothing. Personally, I'm leaning towards Good year Eagle F1 GS-D3 (price is similar to P Zero in Sydney), just gotta check out how good the rim protection is. For some reasons, all the tyres shop I spoke to do not like to Conti3 very much.
