Sat at some lights behind the porka hoping he would play and he did.
I thought i would be all over his bumper but the 997 was equally as fast, i could not gain on at all.
Anybody with any comments?
Yeah those non turbo'd 997's are quick, shame it wasn't a turbo as you would have whopped his arse. :?

I've had a blast with a new 997 in my B5 and was all over it like a cheap suit. The guy in the 997 looked well miffed when I finally pulled off the slip road.

Wouldn't that be the other way round?? a 997 turbo would destroy an RS4 surely?!

I'm not going to sit here and say that wouldn't happen,

actually, yes, I was going to! :biggrin3:

quick bit of research

911 t 480hp 620nm and 1600kg

rs4 414hp 430nm and 1650kg

A wee bit closer than i thought by the look of it. not having it that anyone would smoke one in an RS4 though - but it would piss me off not to be able to shake a four door saloon in my 100k supercar!!... :D :D :D

Drivers of 996 TTs would be even more pissed off, the difference being even less (unless they have the x50 upgrade or are otherwise non-standard).

My local dealer reckons a new 997 s is as fast on an A or B road than a 996 turbo, just because of the way it puts the power down and how well the newer car handles. He's probably right!

I need to find one driven by a willing pilot now to test the RS4 theory!! Very surprising (and quite pleasing) indeed...

Surely you don't for a moment think a 996 Turbo & 997 Turbo are similar

I was talking about the 996TT & we've done that so choose to believe what you want but facts are facts

A 997 Turbo would wander off against an RS4 for fun. It would defo be my weapon of choice if the wife stopped buying new clothes for a couple of months

becuase the ratios are different on the crap 5 speed tip v 6 speed manual, flatters the 0-60 I guess; mid range I don't see how the tip would be quicker - even if it was its still a horrible device

I find it bizarre that people think an RS4 would be any quicker than a 997 C2S, very well matched I would say in terms of power/weight. More a compliment to the RS4 that a 4 door saloon/estate can keep up with the S powered 911.

911 c2s 355hp 400nm 1500kg
RS4 414hp 430nm 1650kg

Looks pretty close to me too..... as with the turbo version i'd be spewing it to not be able to pull away in my 911!!
