Do you not have the difference in power delivery, in particular the surge at 5.5k revs in non-sport mode that I described??

Jason
Still only on 2500 miles & not really performed anything scientific, but i've not noticed any difference in the rev range between Sport & Non-Sport.

In the M5 i did see a difference between P500 & P500S, as this altered the throttle response greatly, so if i pressed the button without altering throttle pressure (cruising) the car would start to accelerate once the button was pressed.

Still a tad miffed the Bucket seats are not active (not a big deal though) as the Sport button assuming you've got it set on the DIS, just tightens the seats (side & thigh bolster) to theri maximum setting (not pleasant) & don't alter depending on the cars turning direction (loved this on the M5). That said i prefer almost everything else, so can live with this.

Sport button in the main gets pressed when i want more noise, so i've de-activated the Sports Seats for now as they give no benefit on the road & would start to hurt after a while.

Will test the shorter shift, throttle response & the Sports Seat setting thouroughly in Germany in September.

I am talking about foot planted acceleration in both modes, there is a power surge that comes in at 5.5k revs without and this is smoothed out with it on....?? if the power delivery should be the same in either mode then I may be down on power in the lower rev range??

Imagination is a wonderful thing.
fact or fiction...probably should have said that when sport is pressed, the engine is immediately remapped to make it more responsive, the sound of the engine alters, and the side bolsters of the driver's seat squeeze in.

The change in sound affects both intake and exhaust. A valve opens to allow more air to enter the intake system via an additional opening, and valves open in the rear silencer box to reduce back pressure.

You are right about peak power @ 5.5K.

Fuel consumption not too sure...but what who cares, find the right road with S pressed and enjoy...

Hi Andy, your right, I never answered your original question (maybe we have all become like politicians by steering round the question asked and coming out with a load of old waffle - does that sound like anybody....?)

Anyway, I suppose you have asked your dealer who comes out with the stock answer of no.

Well most things electrical can be modified, so the answer to your question is a definate YES!

There is a cost for this (not cheap) but if you want any further details contact me on: mac.mckenzie6@btinternet.com

Where in the air box is the additional inlet?
I assume it must be before the filter so i cant work out how this would create any additional noise.
