Just to weigh into the cc debate, I've just replaced my 103,000 mile B7 with a low mileage 2013 E92 M3. I did 63,000 miles in the B7 and never had it carbon cleaned, and I have no evidence to suggest the previous owner had it done either. Right up to the day I said goodbye to it, I would say it pulled every bit as hard as the M3 does. As others have said, vacuum leaks are far more likely to rob you of real world performance than carbon build up ever will.

If you’re carbon cleaning you might as well add a stage 2 map. Performs much better.

In the receipts have they recently flushed out the coolant, brake fluid, power steering, others?

Like in any used car I would flush out all the diferent oils/fluids as you don’t really know what people might have used to top these up... just peace of mind so you know that you are starting out fresh...

Yes I’m with you in that and do it on any car I buy. Would the coolant be done during aux rad replacement ?

As we’re talking about RHD you might want to evaluate the drivers side aux rad delete and do the flush then, it’s a common mod that is usually done at the same time the air box flapper mod is done (there are various write ups about this).

Is the aux radiator leaking on that car at this time or it appears as already replaced?

And keep the outgoing aux rad as a spare for the other side as they are not handed.

Have to agree as above on the cc debate, over the years I've never bothered as once i repaired vac leak (airbox flap solenoid), replaced all filters(fuel too)/plugs and annual oil change, then run on v-power the engine has been like a swiss watch with plenty on tap....
The last thing i would be interested in if purchasing another B7 RS4 is a cc, but hey-ho each to their own.

According to MRC’s website yes.

As for a carbon clean, unless you get it done every year then it’s pointless. Just enjoy it and give it a good hiding every now and then.

Is there anyway to check for carbon build without specialist tools and limited mechanical skills? If it makes a diff I’d get it done every 10k miles

Sort of.

If you get hold of an OBD2 reader that allows logging of airflow of the MAF (can be bought online for peanuts), get the car warm, and a couple of hard pulls in 2nd to redline - record the peak MAF reading and divide by 0.8.

That gives you a rough BHP reading for the car. That can be a good indication of carbon buildup. If power is really low though <350-360bhp, then it’s more likely to be a vac leak.
