Won't deny its a superb example, its just got two issues for me, I hate the wheels, sorry Mike, but the stock wheels are a preference for me and its just a bit more than I am looking to pay to be honest.

You're going to turn down a well sorted car for the wheels????Gibbo205 wrote:

You can sell those wheels for more than a mint set of OEM wheels would cost you.
Price-wise, Mike's is keenly priced for the spec and condition.
Buying a cheap RS4 can be a false economy. Once you've paid for fixing some of the expensive issues that can crop up, you may as well have bought one that is already sorted, and probably in better condition to boot.
I hope you've read around (especially the buying guide on the forum) and know the common issues?

Yes being doing plenty of reading up and one of the guys from this forum has offered to take me for a spin in his tomorrow (not for sale) to educate me on what to look out for etc. Going in fully eyes open and will be test driving several as am in no particular rush, looking to probably purchase by end of month or early next as I would of sold my main car and my track car is going in the body Shop for a full respray so ideally need to find something by then.

Thanks guys.
I have the original wheels too but thought the rotors would be more appealing as they generally cost more to buy than a set of OEM. And I sold my spacers so the 19s don't look as good as they should.

I wish mikes car came up before mine did. It’s a cherished example. Any potential buyers will be spending serious money putting the dogs out there right. Anyone looking for a b7 right now would be mad to not snap his arms off for it.

Re: Looking for an B7 RS4; What to look out for and some questions
Just to echo what I posted on VWROC...
I got a peasant-spec (18" wheels, no nav, no DCC, etc.) 64-plate DSG Golf R in October last year. It was a great all-rounder and very quick in all conditions but I found the engine to be totally lacking in character especially the noise. I've owned several Panzers over the years (C5 RS6, B5 RS4, B6 S4. W211 E55, and so on
) but I'd never had a B7 RS4. I saw one that looked promising and decided to go for it in August. It's a 56-plate, completely standard (including the dreaded DRC) Avant.
My thoughts so far:
RS4
Pros:
Engine, engine, engine: the noise is sublime and (even if mine is down a few horses because of coking) I love the way it puts the power down. Despite what I'd heard mine's got enough torque low-down and in the mid-range to make decent progress and then an absolutely blistering top-end.
Character: the whole car feels a lot more special to me than the Golf ever did. From the moment you press the starter button every journey feels like an event.
Looks: the B7 is my favourite-looking RS4, especially the Avant. It's got such presence on the road without being too in-your-face. I've never had so many people move out of the way so quickly on dual carriageways and motorways so I'm guessing it looks quite good in the rear-view mirror as well.
Cons:
Age: mine is quite low mileage and it doesn't have any squeaks or rattles (I never use the ICE/infotainment in my cars so I don't notice how outdated the tech is) but I'm aware that some stuff will need a refresh soon.
Maintenance/repair costs: absolutely terrifying, if I'm honest.
Just how many of them get nicked. I read Housey's thread recently. Shocking stuff.
Golf:
Pros:
All-round ability: so good at covering ground quickly.
DSG: as good, if not better, than the S-Tronic in the RS3 I had before the Golf.
Costs: much cheaper to run, tax, insure, etc. than the RS.
Cons:
Engine: the main reason I sold it.
If you were a bit closer I'd have offered you a run in the RS. It really is a very special car IMO but the potential repair bills are already keeping me awake at night.
