Hi Shaun, sorry to hear about your car, just stumbled across some pictures of what I believe to be your car, doesn't look in good shape at all, and like you say when all the little things get added up, it will or has been written off, such a shame! On a lighter note I hope the girlfriends ka is performing well, there certainly cheaper to run!

The car was written off by the insurance company last Friday and I am going through the final stages of agreeing a settlement payment for the car.

Some pictures to show the state of things...

Just before it was taken...

Etc etc you get the idea. The car also had knackered locks, no keys, cooked brakes, bits missing, was completely dead electrically and the front seats had a lot of small scratches, cuts and damage but was written off due to "suspected mechanical damage" so no idea what had been done to the engine or gearbox  Its a real shame as it was a genuinely decent well looked after example with all the right bits on it but will now be with another cat D reject if it ever makes it back onto the road...

So, do I regret buying it? No way! It was an awesome car for the short time i had it and after diagnosing a leaking airbox flap solenoid shortly after buying it and resetting the throttle body it became a different beast altogether having already had a stage 1 map and a recent carbon clean!

Would I buy another? HELL NO!! I can't take the financial hit or the risk again so I'll stick to the understated sleepers I've built in the past. The only challenge now is creating something that can shine a light to the RS4 without appealing to the scumbags.

Haha it is truly an awful car! I have a Caddy van as well that may be getting the treatment now until I can decide whether to get something else or not :?

Also I have posted a couple of bits in the classified section as i no longer have a need for them

Cheers, Shaun

Thank for the reply maty

It is <beep> when this happens and i am yet to pick mine up til the 9th December but it has to be done always wanted one and well why not i can now. This is what i am fearful of it being nicked, ppl say its insured etc but its not the point, it the heart ach and anger that goes with it all when or if it happens in your case happened.
I am looking into alarms to prevent this or if they do take it it is to the bottom of the street,

Hi Shaun, don't take a hit with the insurance company trying to give you a low pay out, if that's the case and normally is, you have only owned the car 5 weeks after all, no devaluation in my eyes! Fight your corner you sound like a guy that does, and don't let the experience put you off getting another nice car!
My KA experience was also a painful one by the way lol!

My sympathy. We had the same on our RS6PE. Three weeks before a holiday they broke in at 3 in the morning looking for the keys. We had the keys in a metal safe with another car parked across the end of the RS as delay and the alarm on the house but they still made a go at it. We did not feel safe for quite some time. Almost a year on we are still a lot more careful but no longer having trouble. Illegitimi non carborundum. Feck 'em.

Sorry to hear this. I sold my RS4 after the paranoia of having it stolen got too much!
