TERRACLEAN INTAKE CARBON CLEAN

Post by Jon_J » Sat Apr 15, 2017 3:44 pm

Like I said, has anyone done a dyno before and after? Surely it's in the companies interest to do this? If it cleaned it you would see an increase in BHP. Simple test!

It was Faisal that did the tests. On his Golf and his RS4. And in his write up he explained that this terribleclean was not worth a fivenuckleshuffle.

Actually it wasn't Terraclean. But sounds the same.

Why doesn't Terraclean dyno an RS4 B7, then take the inlet manifold off to view the carbon build up. Then put it back together, clean and repeat.
This for sure would show the results and if positive they would make a fortune from RS4 B7 owners alone. It's a no brainer for a company who has invested millions in their product. I would like to see how a full arshole cap of carbon is dissipated using their system.

I have used their outlet cleaning system which I believe is logical and for £85 I can afford it and with a proper MRC carbon clean to the inlets I get 448ps with no cold air feed, I am one happy bunny.
RS4 B7, Mugello Blue, K&W V3 & HR ARBs, set up by Centre Gravity, Milltek Valved Non Res & cat bypass pipes, BMC air filter, braided hoses, DOT 5.1, Terraclean, MRC Full Carbon Clean, MRC remap 448PS 477NM, 20" S7 alloys with 4mm spacers & Hawke spigots 66.6 > 57.1, AP Racing front discs. Sold Sept 2019. Now rocking an F80 M3

Yep - I tried and tested, all details on the forum, and vid on YouTube.

Had the manifold off shortly after the clean, and it was full of carbon.

I'll say that owners that report some improvement in driveability after one of the enginecarbonclean/terraclean aren't necessarily experiencing a placebo; the process does involve a lot of revving and injecting oxygen into the manifold, which should combine to get a really hot combustion and possibly clear some crap from cylinders on downstream. But you'd get the same effect doing an Italian tune! And that's a lot more fun.

The effect on the carbon in the inlet manifold just seem to be to make it a bit more wet and gunky than MRC were used to seeing. I had a clogged breather pipe, which may or may not have been caused by the enginecarbonclean. Once MRC had cleared it all up properly, I gained 44 horsepower.

Actually, that's a better summary than mine!

Should be their company tag-line!

There is a guy in Northern Ireland who I would trust to do a thorough clean.
His name is Robin and he works at MacMillan Porsche.

Macvoy motors wont do it as I am very friendly with his mechanic and even he recommends Robin.
I got a price from Robin last year it was around £650 + VAT.
He was willing to take before and after pics. He showed me a few from the Porsche's he does.

I am probably going to get him to do it very soon.

Second problem is , the 4wd rolling road over here aint 100%, I do plan to do a before and after but rolling roads for 4wd cars are never that accurate.
