So when using the rs4 brakes hit them hard and don't ride them? That's ok as long as the car behind has decent stoppers! My rear discs still need skimming as there is pitting on them where it's not been used and when it does its just around town so not cleaning them up while driving , the noise is terrible ( sounds like cheap tyre noise) when braking .

Now my 6 week old is out of hospital I can cracking on getting bits done for the summer

The problem might be the calipers need an overhaul. Pretty sure that is what is wrong with my ones just now.

Brakes were skimmed 1000 miles ago and now the shudder is back. Think the calipers are not sliding correctly or some of the pistons are not moving as they should.

Result is judder and a lack of stopping power.

Will report back once I have them done.

I don't know why, but I just saw the title of this thread and thought it was about the B9 RS4 being announced!

Honestly, try him.
Marcus is a great guy. He skimmed mine a year or so ago. I never had any judder but he did a few things to help it not to occur. Cleaned the callipers and also did some work on the alloys.

He said there's a lot of other factors that can cause the judder which normally isn't actually discs themselves. Well worth giving him a call.

Looks as though your secondary cats have removed. There are some weld marks there. It's the primary ones which are more restrictive so they are the ones that most people remove.

It looks as though the cats have been removed and also you have centre resonated boxes on your exhaust system.
Regarding smoking/ burning issues, what fuel have you put in, I wouldn't put anything less than Shell V-power in. My old exhaust system was quite similar pushing out black smoke like a diesel. A very spirited drive will help burn the carbon deposits off, however it is highly likely that you have Carbon build up within the inlet's, a common /unfortunate design flaw.
A designated carbon clean will help, respected garages like MRC, Unit20 can do that for you But the carbon will return.

MRC seems to be mentioned a fair bit - i had called them a couple of times before i bought the car and after - did not get much help over the phone..

they suggested i pay for a heath check or a stage 2 map that includes the health check.

I am guessing the health check will highlight issues, also if the car needs a carbon clean?

I will call unit20 Monday to see what they think or advise..

MRC said carbon clean costs near £1k? seems expensive..i did see somewhere someone said anyone ca do a carbon clean..anyone any cheaper?

My car is does not feel low on performance - infact it is quicker then the other 8 odd that i did a test drive in,
