this was a challenge i was hoping to do. my best mate always wanted an aston martin and few years ago bought a db9, after about a year he traded it for a 997 turbo then traded again for a c63 saloon. we had planned to do a head to head with my b7 but he,s not local to me anymore so don,t see him often. last week the t**t swapped it for an a45 amg. . would have been interested in the results if it happened.

i raced the c63 in Belgium up to 160 and stuck with it but i was behind so had the slipstream. from inside the car the merc feels like it is much faster in a straight line. on twistys the rs4 wins

also had a go against a a45 and then the rs4 struggles on the twistys to keep pace and there isnt much in it on the straight between the 2.

I am not sure what to make of the A45 AMG. We went out in one when my mate was looking before he bought the C63. It made some lovely Cracks on gear change and it stuck to the road really well. I personally liked the interior too. I just think the engine had no character. It is just an efficient tool and at £40k I could never justify it. I would want something a bit more special for that kind of money.

I think they needed to make more changes to the AMG version as unless you know what your looking for i.e. brakes and different exhaust tips it looks no different to the diesels with the AMG kit. That's why I like the M1 so much. It's a one off and you know its a bit special as soon as you see it.
