Ive just emailed the dealer I got it from, he will ignore it I think but worth a shot . im not to happy im faced with a bill for near on 4k when the car was mot'd the day before I got it,its been dry stored since and only covered 3200 miles . The shocks look like they have been leaking for ages and even the tech guy said it shouldn't have passed a mot .

But either way ill get the bits done and get it how I want it . Same as I did with the Cosworth .

My receipt from Unit20 lists them as:
8E0412019B Front Left SS
8E0412020B Front Right SS
8E0512019E Rear Left SS

I didn't have the rear right done so I don't have a part number for that one but it looks like there are minor differences (just the last letter in fact). Or are these parts the same and the last letter signifies an updated part?
What suspension set up do you have Mike?

And how long ago where yours replaced?

I think it was 2013 it was replaced. Pretty sure that l last letter is like a version / mod state letter which would imply there has been an updated version between mine being fitted and now but I'd be surprised if they have changed the shocks in that time. Maybe the numbers were taken from unit20s computer rather than Audi's stock system so it still shows the older revision?
I have SS (non plus) suspension but, like I said before, I thought both versions had the same shocks and that last letter in the part number shows they are the ever part but a later revision. I could be wrong though.

Yes does look like revision numbers

And the shocks would be the same but different springs

Not as easy as going into Audi as the require reg or chassis number

If someone had the part numbers for an earlier fitment on the SS or SS+ this would confirm its a revision of a letter for the setup perhaps?

I'm pretty sure it's a revision number - the latest revision (v3) DRC shocks are the ones Hitchin Audi say they've never had to perform a replacement on.

I'm pretty sure when I had my car serviced at Camberley Audi, Rob looked up my history and said it had the latest shocks fitted already. This was late 2010 / early 2011, so not not sure if that was v3 shock or not? FYI I only had one shock fail but changed the other 2 as a precaution.

I wish I still had copies of the invoice from my shocks last year when I had a couple replaced. I had ss+ also but I was quite sure the shocks were the same as non ss+.

Frustrating as I'd like to know for sanity!

what bilstein b7 rs4 coilover kit retails for £900? The b16 is like £1800, the b14 is something like £1100... Weird. Good find if that's the case.

In other news, I don't think there's a better setup than a well sorted DRC :)

Do you not know the kit they are fitting to your car then?
