had a software update last year (and hopefully will do this year
What is the current version?

I have been using my iPad and playing music from Spotify (using Aux in) so haven't had so much use lately for the SD slots.

Not to get me wrong I am very happy with my new RNS-E (193G)..:)

For the pre-2010 RNS-E (192) it's 0650.

For the 2010+ RNS-E (193) it's 0220 in Europe and 0230 in the US

I also find the ability to add more than one stop over in the navigation really useful compared with the old one. The later mapping also gives you road detail one step further zoomed out.

Is it possible to get/find to security code of a RNS-E with VCDS?

So in case the radio is fitted and not locked but functional? My old RNS-E's code card is lost and my Audi dealer claims that they need
to connect to my car to be able to read the security code..

No.

If you want the code from a dealer that's correct, they have to connect their VAS to the car to read the RNS-E seruial number which is then sent to an Audi database to retrieve the PIN number.

There are some other companies that claim to be able to retsieve the PIN number though...

It's a computer so anything is possible. Question is, has anyone with the ability and tools been bothered enough to work it out?

I've been a member & Moderator on audiforum.us (which specialises in retrofitting Audi OE sat nav systems) since 2005 and personally retrofitted 50+ RNS-Es, and have yet to come across anyone who has hacked into the RNS-E code.

AFAIK nobody has been bothered...

Which is what I said. Baring a physical on/off switch no computer is unhackable fella. Just a undeniable fact.

I contacted today our Audi importer and they said I need to visit Audi with my car and radio fitted. I did send them the cars vin number and radio's serial number.
This used to be enough to my knowledge.

As above mentioned I am trying to get the pin code to my old RNS-E radio in order to be able to sell it. The new one had the code card with it.

Now after I have replaced the RNS-E with this latest version I have noticed the following: When starting the car the bass is quit accentuated but after kets say 5 min its almost gone. This means some setting is changing the sound.

Somewhere there was some writing about this but I cannot find it back.

Check that the RNS-E is properly setup for Bose AudiPilot - this means not just getting the coding right but also setting adaptation channel 8 to 255.

I found on a Lambo forum very good instructions. I will add the link as soon as I find it back.

I actually fitted today the old RNS-E back to check all radio related coding and checked that they very similar on the new one.
I have changed the Bose Audipilot inactive (from 255 to 0) since I suspect that to be the reason. I have add a mono amplifier to the subwoofer and it might now
think that the increased bass is "road noise" and compencates it away (?).

Quite possible, Bose Audiopilot compares the signal from a microphone in the interior light with the signal from the RNS-E and then changes the gain and frequency response of the Bose amp in the boot to try and make the "wanted" signal appear to be the same level above the "unwanted" signal.

So if you're adding a lot of extra bass via another amp then it will adjust the frequency response of the Bose amp to make it deliver less bass.
