Mike,

its due to space and heat a resister wasn't used on this bulb, the bulb is a small dash bulb, life span of this is well, as long as the car I hope as I have not seen any dash lights go on a car, even of 20 year old ones so fingers crossed, its the weakest link but easy to change as it just pops out.

When I designed this the technician at the factory wanted to put resisters as he was confused on my designed but I drilled it into his head I am paying for the mould so he needed to make it how I made the drawings.

I will leave pictures to Neil as he has a good camera :), they are subtle tho in comparison to the LED units, these will only fit in a OEM halogen holder tho.

Any other questions then please ask.

No, I've had some replacement units (ie the whole fitting not just the lamp) for a few years and have had no trouble with them. I tried the LED lamps before and they were no good.
The reason I ask is that I'm surprised Trups went for a lamp as a false load instead of a resister as the lamp has a much shorter life than a resister. I'm sure he considered this though hence why I'm asking why he went for a lamp.

PS when I was changing my ones in the dark I dropped the little screw onto my gravel drive... took me days to find it again. Not easy just get a replacement so those new ones Trups supplies are really useful. And if you don't use a short screwdriver the original ones will be knackered very quickly from trying to turn it from the wrong angle.
iSheep phone!

I saw those whole replacement units, but I was committed to Trups version and much like his DRL with false load attached I think it'll work just fine. I know he changed the configuration slightly to improve so hence the delay.

Yes - those BAS***D screws are a mare. I have a gravel drive and very nearly dropped them. The ones coming out were wrecked...
I've no doubt they will work, just wondered why he chose that method. I have his DRL solution too, I gave up trying loads of different so called 'canbus error free' bulbs after about the 4th or 5th set.

And no not an iPoo, I am an Android man. It wasn't the phone as such, but it wouldn't load the page when I hit submit so had to keep pressing the back button and trying again, and that was the end result.
Just fitted them and all working a treat. Never got that far on the DRL - I just went for a complete Trups makeover and figured it was respected stuff and with no errors...

I've been on the train MANY times with that issue...

I got mine today, nice surprise thanks Trups. I was wondering how these were coming along. When they turned up, it didn't click about the PCB, all I saw was that blue old school LED-like thing and was disappointed. /Edit, of course, dashboard light......

I wanted to ask one question, being a symmetry-obsessed weirdo. I noticed that the LEDs are in different positions on the PCB. Any reason for that and any particular way to put them in, as in the further spaced ones towards each other for symmetrical light spread? I know I know..

I left them at the office and walked home, won't be trying them until the weekend I guess as Madam is driving the 4 this week.

Trups, I knew there'd be a good reason! Yes you're right, dashboard lamps rarely fail.

Neil, I didn't go with Trups solutions for a number of reasons. First of all I did all my lights before I really came on this forum so hadnever heard of him. Also, I don't think he was really advertising for the B7 back in those days even if I was on here and lastly, well, he didn't do a number plate solution back in those days. After years of struggling with the DRLs he came out with a solution for them and I jumped straight on it and he saved the day (and he even did a personal delivery, how's that for service!).

Footers.

This is how they fit, only 1 way
Image

So I made the base larger so any shine from the blue halogen will not shine thru.

Image

In this picture the Blue bulb hardly shines bright so again, you wont even know its there.

The LED's are the way they are due to the circuitry, both sides have working and connect up in one way or another so they had to be like this, I had no choice in this matter, I would of been happy with just 2 small LED's but I thought may aswell try 4, Audi OEM ones have 2 LED's.

Thanks

Mike - I see! Makes sense now. Yes, the DRL solution not only serves for my DRL, but also for the reverse LED in my Dectanes.

Personal delivery? Bugger - I didn't get that! TRUPS!!!

I risked my life with these - I avoided rampant Grannies at the local dogging zone to get these shots...why I went there is another story, but it was dark...

Hey Neil - Do these illuminate the ground as well or are they just bright enough to light the number plate. I've some eBay ones that never, ever throw an error but they are a little too bright for my liking.

Trups: Front indicator bulbs next please :jump_clap:

Hey Kev - they simply illuminate the plate and the top of the bumper as per the shot. No light leaches on to the floor. I thought, mmmm only 4 LED's - but it's just spot on now it's dark...
