Mines having one changed tmrw at Autotechnica amongst suspension arms, rear springs, clutch return pipe.inbetweenie oil service etc etc

Seems there getting popular at failing, mine was right hand side that showed a fault code and was difficult to set off smoothly with a little kangarooing,im hoping it was this that's causing it.
Sub frame should be lowered that's maybe why its been such a pig to do tony? Would need tracking afterwards unless you marked its position really well I guess. My dealer competed with tps,i sourced a pair of springs for 151 as opposed to 177 and the they would do r/h engine mount at 173 all in.

Yeovil Audi quoted me c£450 to do this including parts - sounds like a bargain from what I'm reading here?
I have been "shot down in flames" before here on the subject of dynamic engine mounts, but it seems as if this engine mount has the ability to stiffen up, when instructed to do so by the ecu?
Maybe not as dynamic as the engine mounts on a 997 GT3 RS, but dynamic nonetheless?

Please keep us informed of the outcome re "kangarooing"

Yeah, mines "slipping" very slightly at low revs e.g moving slowly in traffic, which I think is down to this engine mount. Got booked into an indy on friday, reckons 2 hours labour.

I can't really see how the sub-frame would help really - it's the headers that are in the way :/ then again, with a lift and plenty of space to work it's bound to be a lot easier to make some space.

Yeah, that's what it does - it's electro hydraulic. Can't find the description I read now, but they seem to be another common rs4 issue. If I get any more errors after this I'll be tempted to go aftermarket and get them mapped out.

Hmm I wonder how many others are shot just haven't got Vagcom to check or had the car long enough to know summats not right?

173 all in was meant to mean inc the dreaded, fitted I think its around £300 and fairly sure around 2 hrs labour, ive got it all noted but not with me.

Its a ramp job really as is suspension arms,i had great intention but I don't get enough time to drive it never mind spanner it!

Im vey sure snapped rear springs is a lurker that most will have also............you can only tell from ride height difference and need to remove the wheels to properly inspect as the they sit in a cup and all looks well until you take the wheel off,ive I mate whos got his over here at work and his ride height has gone on one side and damn sure he will be buying springs soon too.

Im hoping shes as good as new when it comes back.Newly re furbed wheels and new pilot sports too! First real maintenance expenditure in well over 4 years ownership its not bad really eh? My b5 was a constant bill producer!

I think it's identical part number for left and right mount.

Pretty good going, mine's been a money pit - more like a restoration really, getting there though. Mrs H took my car when she went out tonight, came back with a big grin telling me worrying stories about giving it some beans on the way home. Oh well, should numb the pain of the remap when I break it to her ;)

I had a snapped spring too which didn't come to light until Camberley did a "health check" on my car.. I don't like to miss out on these things so my car also decided it needed front DRC replacing at same time :)

I can't say I noticed a difference in the right height either so as you say, probably other people have this and don't know (along with engine mount error which Camberley didn't pick up on - MRC did after a r/r run)
