Stolen seats and steering wheel!

Post by Madmonkee » Sun Feb 24, 2013 12:08 am

Question: did they smash the glass? If yes why didn't the alarm go off?
Is it worth replacing the standard bolts with some like these:

Get window tints too they deter a little so I've heard, and help from seeing in at a glance.

Have you ever heard an Audi alarm go off? An ant farting would make more noise!

Rather than tints you could get the security film (also available as a tint) that goes on the inside that stops them breaking in through the glass. Ifthe smash the window the small pieces of glass are held together by the security film on the inside and and the window becomes concave it actually becomes stronger as the small pieces of glass bing against each other. In the event of an accident ou can break the glass out from the inside as the small broken pieces move away from each other rather than bind.
Pretty pointless getting this before as sure a sh*t the only was your car was going to get nicked was with the keys but as this seat stealing is becoming more popular it might be a worthwhile investment, especially if you live in London or other areas prone to these thefts.

This looks interesting

Generally one way but if you didn't hammer it down all the way you could use mole grips to remove.
I don't think a thief would spend time trying to work out the fixing.

+1

It's an insult that Audi call it an alarm - when my alarm went off on the driveway we all thought it was a text message alert it was so quiet!

What about a quick spot weld either side of the bolt to the frame? :D
