the wideband lambdas dont switch on from cold until the internal heaters have got them up to temperature. As the weather gets colder it takes longer for them to switch on. The car is still running richer until the engine warms up and this makes it sensitive - or not as responsive until you give more throttle and then it can feel jerky.

Any small leak in breather/cylcone etc will make this more noticeable until the wideband lambdas switch on and compensate.

Lambdas have in the past been servicebale items and should be replaced every 5 years or 60k ish to keep mpg good and accuracy.

Reset the throttle body no improvement.
Defiantly smoother once the 7000rpm warming goes out.
With a miltek are the lambada sensors still fitted or deleted.
Will defo check the breather hoses this weekend for leaks.

Also getting a lot of burping farting spitting from the silencers on overrun
Think this is normal, just worried its overfueling / too rich
Might look at changing my map to one if unit 20's custom ones and stick her on the RR.

Milltek cat back = Pre and post cat Lambda sensors not deleted
Milltek full system (200cell/100cell downpipes and catback) = Pre and post cat Lamdba sensors not deleted
Milltek full system + remap = Post cat lambda sensors deleted

In all cases the lambda sensors will still be physically fitted to the exhaust just the remap tells the ECU not to interogate the post cat sensors.

You dont delete rear lambdas. They need the cat check coded out when you dont have a cat in front (or even 100 cell as they dont pass cat check). They still will work even with no cats.

Ah, so the ECU is adapted to process the lambda readings according to the set-up ie 100cell/200 cell/No cat DP's?

I think that the nanny 7000rpm can be deleted via VCDS - pretty sure that PetrolDave did this iirc?

I had the 0090 SW upgrade done about 18 months ago, and it's the best thing I've had Audi do.

The exhaust noise, with a standard exhaust, is sharper and louder (sounds great accelerating away from peage booths), all the rough cold starting problems have disappeared and the mpg is about 10% better.
Dave, why did you have the 0090 SW software installed? - were you experiencing the same problems as Roy on cold starts?
I'm just wondering why Yeovil Audi advised me against having the upgrade? It's not like it would cost them anything.

As far as I know there is only one other RS4 in the area - perhaps they just didn't have any experience of it?

All the best,

Ian

SW0090 was mainly for cold running issues, it also incorporates the increased idle at startup to warm the cats quicker. Just tell Audi of the cold running issues and they're obliged to update for free. Don't forget any aftermarket remap will be erased during the update.

With 0080 cold starts were VERY rough and running for the first few minutes was also very rough and lumpy, once I had 0090 installed that all went away - just got the very fast idle for the first few seconds (maybe up to a minute) but I'm used to that from how later model Lotus Esprit Turbos behave.
