I had to buy a new bulb for my bike (which curiously has an orange glow built in to make you easier to see apparently) & it came with the blue W5W bulbs "free" so I fitted them to my bike which has 2 side light bulbs & 1 main bulb due to some stroke of headlight design genius & is a halogen not HID too !

They bulbs are very blue but when lit they are white as far as I can tell although probably less white more blue than the PIAA bulbs in the car, I think the MOT tester would have to be extremley difficult to interpret them as blue but I suppose is just possible - I can't see it being a problem on my bike as the HL is lit at all times thanks to the EU not trusting me to turn it on when I ride & the bulbs are tucked up in the HL so can't see them in day to day use. They did make me glad I had bought the PIAA ones for the car as the blues lamps would have looked awful if can see when not lit (look OK lit though).

I could envisage an asiduous MOT tester seeing blue bulbs & failing them but would be disappointed if did the same with the mirror bulbs - after all the side repeaters pass (at the moment)
