EPC LIGHT AFTER CARBON CLEAN

Post by JAMES RS4 » Mon Dec 16, 2019 1:41 pm

Hello everyone, in my rs4 b7 bought 5 months ago, I have appeared the EPC light. I connected the obdeleven and it takes me two errors:

P2020: Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor / Switch Circuit Range Perf Bank 2

P2015: Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor / Switch Circuit Range Perf Bank 1

That happens immediately after a total carbon cleaning and eliminating the flaps :?

Remove the flaps can cause some king of ECU error?

Probably the arms is broken. If you don’t have the flaps then Do a stage 2 MRC remap.

But the axis and the sensors are still there, I just removed the flappers, so I understand that I should not REMAP anything, right?

I’ve had a same issue. Arms sensor was there. But it didn’t work properly so the fault code came back every 2-3 days. Replaced the sensor and it was not help. So MRC mapped. No issue at all. It was nearly 2 years ago now

I would start by searching for a vacuum leak. At the front/bottom of the manifold there is a Solenoid Valve, it’s not easy to get too but with “small hands” and removing the front CF piece you should be able to check around first if the lines are connected or if you might hear a slight hissing..., anything else will involve taking that manifold off again... This valve solenoid is part of the immediate circuit that hooks up to 2 Intake Manifold flap drive units (under the manifold) and these are what open and close the arms.

The other possibilty just like Gary mentioned is that both your flap arm linkages broke as these are made of plastic and become weak over time, it has to be a pretty bad repair Shop to break both and if you ever want to repair these, its a manifold off job and 034 in the US sells the parts. A tune in this case as suggested should resolve your issue as long as it codes out these error codes from happening.

On a separate note I’d ask the Shop if they used loctite when they reinstalled the 16 (8x2) sideplugs that go on each side of the manifold as you don’t want the remote possibilty of one of these falling into one of your cylinders
