Intake Manifold Wanted

Post by X1MYS » Thu Jan 18, 2018 8:36 pm

Hi all

Having issues with my intake manifold as the cars epc and management constantly on!!
Had a full carbon clean done recently to solve but garage told me it’s the manifold that needs changing as one side is not opening as it should.
If anyone has one for sale ideally ported ready or a used one that functions properly. Or alternatively can make any other suggestions on what best to do with it will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Get the flaps removed and coded out. Speak to MRC.

Its pretty standard for the flap rods to wear. As Simon says, get them locked open and coded. Replacing the manifold, even with a used one that has had the work is likely to be more expensive when you allow for the labour too.

Where abouts are you based?

I have the same exact problem...and I have been given the same advise. I live in Finland so MRC is not an option :-/ I spoke with my mechanic about removing the flaps but then we started reading that removing flaps does have en impact on low end performance and more worryingly on cold starts.

Yes cold start a but lumpy but most of the owners deflapped after the carbon clean.

Can you/anyone post a video of the lumpy start you get when deflapped? I think lumpiness can be quite subjective...I have heard that the car might even stall

Mine is less lumpy on cold start after carbon clean and flap delete.

Is it remapped aswell? And do you still have the secondary air injection? I think that makes it a bit lumpy...

Stage 2 map, secondary air injection still there I believe.

^ Did you get quiet cold start? If yes, secondary air intake is mapped out I believe. If you have the minute or so high idle and loud cold start, it’s still mapped in.

Don’t know. Did not ask for it so I assume not.

Does it run a high emissions idle when you first start it up cold?

Yes secondary still there, but cold air feed will be fitted soon when the coilovers
