Brake options / upgrade / Tarox?

Post by Regy53 » Sun Jun 25, 2017 4:40 pm

Howdy All

I have been looking at brake upgrades for the tts rs4, i was set on a carbon set from Germany however they were quoting me so it turns out on a 400mm set which wouldn't fit under the 19's.. the 380 mm was just that much more expensive it makes me wonder if its worth it

So i see it as this

Carbon set - £6.5k
Tarox 12 pots - 4k ish (but i can claim vat back)
AP set - ebay job, 2.5k again can get vat back

what experience do we have here? I have always found rs4 brakes lacking and with wanting to do fast road / track day use i want to upgrade however the carbons are so much upfront and so hard to find used its a pain.

Any experience with the Ebay Ap's or Tarox 12 pots?

Thanks
Ross

I'm on my second set of AP front racing disks with Ferrodo DS2500 pads, DOT 5.1 and braded hoses. I flushed the brake fluid through twice and this made a world of difference. I am really impressed with this set up and have no problem at the Nurburgring with fade or wobble and IMHO is much better than standard.

How many miles did you get for a set before they needed changing again?

Ap racing discs and ds2500 pads here too. Good setup. Little bit of squeal now and again. It I can live with that.

Ross. The quote of 6.5k in your first post was that for a set of 400mm ceramics (assuming there from the R8?) or the original 380mm ceramics for the B7?

In either case can you say which company was offering it at that price?

hi wasnt a company but a private sale from Germany. the 6.5k was the 400mm ramics.

more like 7k for the 380mm

I found a B7 ramic equipped car on auto trader earlier, offered them £2.5k for a brake swap haha they said no..

Does anybody know how good the Tarox kits are? say 12 pots or 16 pots?

does anybody knows if the 16 pots will fit under standard 19's? 395mm? or do 12 pots?

They don't do the 16 pot kit for the RS4. If you're referring to Luke's car that was actually a Porsche kit retrofitted to the RS4. i spoke to Tarox about this a while back and just checked the email to confirm. They only do the 12 pot kit for the RS4. Jules had this on the avant he just sold so worth asking him.
