Gotcha.
So it becomes really apparent when you have a monstrously loud exhaust that the S button doesn't give you enough control over the valves! It doesn't come across in the vids, but there's a huge difference in volume with valves open and closed.
So, if you have passengers, or it's late at night, you want the valves closed. So without the remote, that means leaving the car in normal mode, which is annoying - the car has a MRC map, so I like driving it in sport mode. With the remote, I can be in sport, with the valves closed. It's also useful on the motorway, or whenever you might want to drive briskly without drawing too much attention.
The other way round, when you feel like going (as R Kelly might put it) "half on an ASBO", the sport mode only opens the valves above 4K revs on gears 1-3...which can be annoying as you get an abrupt change in exhaust note as you come up to 4K revs....foot planted --> nothing, nothing, nothing, PWwWWAaaAaArRrRrPPP!!!!!! With the remote, I can have the valves fully open, for the full ASBO experience, and get the low down "burbly"/Barry White gargling end of the exhausts's vocal range as well as the stabbed Celine Dion side of the range.
So you see - it's awesome.
