Exhaust valves open
I just reconected the exhaust vavle lines after the previous owner tied the vac lines open. My valves are staying open tho. What could be the problem? I know the vac pump was replaced 3 yrs ago
Re: Exhaust valves open
Very likely they will be seized up. I had same reconnecting vac lines on mine. Required penetrating oil and quite a lot of 'persuasion' to wiggle them back and forth to eventually free them up.

Did you have the system off? Ill have mine off in a week or so, will have a go then
Re: Exhaust valves open
I managed to free the valves up in situ, and they require a regular squirt of oil to keep them free.
Previous owner had disconnected the vac lines, but i found stock exhaust with valves open a bit drony on long journey cruising at motorway speeds. So reconnected and fixed the seized valves which makes car very quiet. But sometimes I miss the throaty rumble of having the valves always open. So made small mod adding switch in boot to overide S button control of vac solenoid - gives either normal S button control or always open.
