Connecting mp3 player to blows rns-e stereo?
Connecting mp3 player to blows rns-e stereo?
Sorry if someone's already covered this, just wondering if there is a way I can connect an mp3 player to the standard stereo? I've got a cd changer in the glove box but the kids like listening to my songs off of deezer. Any help much appreciated.

There are aux input pins on connector on rear of RNSE. Check the thread below - It shows the lead that needs to be made up to 3.5mm audio jack that can be routed through into glovebox. Also recoding needed (via VCDS) to activate the Aux input n the source list on the RNSE.
Ross made up a batch of leads last year that several of us used.

Thanks for reply Paul. So does that need recoding with Vagcom? Also does he still have leads left as this was last year?

I installed a cable not to long ago and was straight forward, I did however need to recode. These are the bits Cable and keys to get unit out.
If you ask around the forum you might find a local member that can help you with the Vagcom.. Good luck.

Yep that cable @jonytek links to looks right.
Yes you do need to recode using Vagcom - the change is small and details and link to Rosstech wiki are halfway down the first page of the thread i linked to.
The recoding enables the aux input and makes the AUX appear in the source list under the CD so you can select it. (In same place as you select MP3 to play from the memory cards)
I am in Camberley, Surrey and have Vagcom/VCDS, where are you?

It did take a while for the change to kick in once I recoded mine. Not sure what it was, recoded, didn't work, went for a drive and tried again and it worked - just something to keep in mind.
Re: Connecting mp3 player to blows rns-e stereo?
Thanks for the help chaps. Will purchase a cable and keys as I don't have a set. That would be helpful Paul but unfortunately I'm from the Bristol area but thanks for the generous offer
Re: Connecting mp3 player to blows rns-e stereo?
Hi all. I have the cable and keys. Also I now have a snap on solus pro. Hopefully I can code using this. My only question is I read that the firmware must be after 2008? Is there a way I can check?

Well mine is 0430 so it's out of date. Anyone fancy lending me a genuine cd for beer money? I'll pay postage etc
