Another anti theft question....
Hello folks,
During the last month, a neighbour had both his cars stolen by a team targeting certain models.
They managed to de-glaze the bathroom window and silently entered his house and lifted the keys. This was by all accounts, a pre-planned operation.....
Turns out that there were other cars targeted in the area and they weren't so successful.
I was away at the time, but i have a feeling if the RS4 was on the drive, it would have been included in a plan or even a future plan to return and nick it. I cant even say if mine isnt already on a list from previous intel gathered by these fu*ks.
Its got me worried none the less....
I remember reading a topic last year where the owner was awakened to hear his RS4 being driven away, but he had some sort of range limiting engine kill system fitted, which caused the car to die about 100 yards up the road from his address.
For the life of me, i cant find the topic now, and i remember he gave details of who fitted the system.
Does anyone have any info on suppliers of a stealthy range limiting kill system?

Clifford black jax is what you need, it's a anti jack system, my mate had his house broke into with nothing dtolen, or so we thought, they'd actually replaced his rs4 key with another Audi key, changed key rings over the lot, they came back four days later but luckily he had black jax they got just round the corner it cut out and he now has his car back undamaged.

Re: Another anti theft question....
Motor guard my mate had his fit in Birmingham, sure he said it was only about £200 fitted, certainly worth it if it save your car and the hassle of insurance claim
Re: Another anti theft question....
Be warned, you have to enter a secret code using a hidden switch every time you start the car or open the door with the engine on though.

Thats a bit of a pain in the rectum...
I suppose theres no other way, anyway i would certainly forget to leave the house with the fob or card or whatever form the transponder was in.....
It would still give peace of mind when theres no knowing when or if these f**ktards will be on the prowl.....

Very true.
In fact, im sure it would become second nature..... just like pressing the clutch pedal before starting.... which is something i instinctively do now in any car before starting

I've lived with black jax for best part of 10 years and can tell you first hand I will never not have them on any high performance car fact .
Yes you have to enter a personal code every time the car is started and again if any door is opened is it a pain the the arse no not at all .
With black jax the car is going nowhere even with the keys in the wrong hands

On the plus side, if it is taken without the code entered it will drive to a safe distance away, then the siren will go off and the lights will flash, then the engine is stopped. That should be more than enough to make any potential thief run quickly. If you can live with the code entry then this is one 1 of the best system for protecting your car from thieves and keeping your no claims bonus in tact.

Re: Another anti theft question....
Thanks gents.
Thats brilliant advice and i will be making the necessary arrangements asap to have it installed.
Theres way too many break ins and car thefts these days, i heard recently from a local cop that they had apprehended a couple of dickheads after a call from the public about a suspicious car driving in and around residential areas, turns out they were scouting the houses..... a notebook was retrieved with the addresses of several houses and codes next to them - D, AL, SL.... which transpired to 'Dog', 'Alarm' & 'Security Light'..... amongst others....
This was only a couple of miles away from me, so theres no way you can sit back and pretend youre all safe and sound anymore.
Sad, sad and mad world we live in.....
Anyway, thanks again.

Re: Another anti theft question....
I'm amazed at the apparent extent of car thefts in the UK, here in Moscow it's not something to be remotely concerned about oddly enough. That said whenever I left the car for a long time (away for holidays etc) I tended to remove the fuel pump fuse as it's only 30 seconds and unlikely for a thief to go hunting for the interruption which would usually be an immobilizer.

I have a Revo map plus their SPS dongle which allows you to load four different settings (including back to stock) by plugging it into the diagnostics port before starting the car. The switch has an anti-theft setting, which disables the ECU. It allows you to start the car, but the throttle is disabled and it's impossible to do anything other than stall, you can't move the car. To switch the anti-theft off, you plug in the dongle again, and after it beeps it's all restored. I think it's a great solution.
Of course, this means you have to carry the dongle with you, so if you leave it in the same place as your keys, you're facing the same problem...

Re: Another anti theft question....
There is of course the cat 5 tracker option. Cat 5 trackers will have a fob or card you need with you when you start the car. If you dont have it they call you to check if you have forgotten it or the car has been stolen. If it had been stolen they can then remotely disable the car. Very good system especially if you make sure they install it somewhere other than the normal hiding places. Even better of you get the Tracker one which uses vhf as well as the other technologies the other companies use which means itll still work underground. Pricey though.
