Engine warning light

Post by MarksRS » Fri May 27, 2016 6:34 pm

Hi,
Looking for help. My engine warning light came on today. Car was little used over winter but stored in dehumidified garage and run for few miles every few weeks.
I'm not looking for what the reason is - as I'm sure there are a few! - but is anyone is essex area that has diagnostic machine so I can find fault code? Failing that, have to take it to stealers.
Any advice in meantime appreciated
Thanks

Where in Essex are you? I'm near Rayleigh area with Vagcom if you need a scan.

Usually a maf or lambda issue after long storage. It's happened to me on an R32 and my RS4.

The fuel might have gone a bit flat... you could use up what's left (gently) and then fill up with some decent juice. Wouldn't hurt to add a drop of injector cleaner.
Then give it a few miles.

If there was no fault before, it's likely to be the fuel or, as mentioned, a lambda sensor coming back to life.

It may well clear itself.
