RS4 to RS3...

Post by sportsandclassic » Fri Jan 01, 2016 11:23 am

I am thinking either of carrying out a few mods to my current RS4 or maybe swapping it for a brand new RS3.

Has anyone made this swap over? Would you or should I keep the RS4?

This has been discussed several times on here and on the RS3 forum, personally I would stick with the RS4 as I prefer the V8 sound to even the I5 and there have been numerous reports of problems with the transmission on the 8P RS3 when chipped.

My wife has a new RS3. It's a fantastic car which sounds amazing with the sport exhaust. It has only done a few hundred miles so far so still early days in terms of speed but when you get towards Illegal speeds it can really start shifting. The front end gave way on me when travelling at quite low speeds in the wet around a roundabout, but I'm putting that down to the crap tyres that Audi provides and that I use Eagle F1s. When I get out of the 3 into the 4 it feels really dated, but in isolation I think the 4 doesn't feel that old. But I still think the 4 looks amazing and when you get an empty road in either wet or dry conditions it is amazing.

I'd say you should take one out for a test drive before deciding.

I thought I would miss the V8 but Rs3 more than makes up for it with the sports exhaust.i like the fact that its discrete to the eye but the enthusiast will spot it .would I go back to the RS4 ? No definatly not they still look good but I'm pleased I've updated.

Quite interesting to read these comments, as I am facing the same kind of dilema. My 2007 B7 which I have owned since new is starting to give a few problems. It's been totally great for 8 years but it's currently in the stealers with the broken bluetooth, dead battery, water ingress problem, and as Audi do not currently have an RS4 and I don't like the RS5 at all I am thinking about getting a replacement.
My take was that the RS3 really does look like a wifes car (i.e. small) when compared to an RS4 Avant. I am thinking more like an M3 now than an RS3 so come on Audi and get the B9 out. :bigblink:
Current : 2018 F5 RS5 (Let's Fire Up the Quattro)
Gone : 2017 M3 CP
Gone : 2007 B7 RS4 ( :kissmyrings: )
