In my case it was as audi_do_dat_then described.
I had the pipe replaced by an Indy and it didn't solve the issue

Brought it to Audi and they said there was a issue with the pedal box itself which caused the clutch to not disengage fully, this in turn caused wear on the clutch so needed that replaced.

Looks a nice piece of kit for a fair price

I had my pipe replaced by Camberley Audi which resolved the clutch pedal staying down issue, but the clutch is still heavy to use and needs to be a slick operation for smooth gear changes

Interesting to see the advert above quotes replacement in under an hour, may well undertake this job before any clutch change

what the price of the pedal box and is it a DIY job?

No idea about the pedal box, pretty sure the pipe replacement isalot longer than an hour though.
