RS4 buckets - should I make an offer?

Post by alefustec » Thu May 21, 2015 4:16 pm

Okay - so I have the comfort seats, but would like the buckets...........thing is I though they were a) impossible to come by and b) if you could find some they were eye wateringly expensive...............then I saw this ebay add.

Obvious questions are;
1. Did they get ripped out of someone's motor (I know there is an RS4 in the background but that doesn't exactly mean its a cast iron alibi)?
2. They seem really cheap (as we all know replacements are £10K +) given they look in very good nick?

Anyone on here be able to testify to the authenticity and whether the price is reasonable?

Depends on what he will take on an offer as there not short of the £2k mark which is about what I have seen them go for there's also another set at £2,195 with a offer option.

I agree make an offer, they set the interior off nicely and you can sell your comfort ones to offset some of the cost

Standard 'knocked off' price. The issue is that you can't tell if the bolsters inflate or not. So there's an expensive risk there. I wouldn't want to pay out over a grand to find out they don't work.

thanks, didn't think about that. As they are in Norfolk and I'm in Jersey I cant go look first either.............much as I would love to swap the comforts out for the buckets I'm not prepared to take the risk for £2K (I could do a lot under the bonnet for that money). Think I'll pass and see if anything pops up on this forum from a member who is reliable

No the ones on e-bay are all black. Checked the above ones out already....................lets just say without being rude that the colour is an acquired taste - I'm sure they looked great in the car he had, but def not for me. I did consider if I could get him down on price enough to then justify the extra cost of getting them reupholstered but decided it would just wind up too expensive as I'm guessing I wont see much change out of £1K to have them done. In fact they are now listed on audi-sport net at £1750..........but still too rich

I would say more realist than cynic..........ad says there out of his own Audi (RS4 in picture behind). So, why would you take your buckets out your RS4 and what do you intend replacing them with? Or there not out the RS4 in the picture and he happened to have a set in his 'audi'. Only reason I can see that they would come up for sale is if the car has been written off and being parted out. Just sent a note to the seller asking if they are heated, if the bolsters inflate...........and if they came out his RS4. We shall see what reply I get. :thumbs:

To be fair, they look in relatively good condition, however I'd be rather cynical he's found some geezer down the pub, paid him £20 to take photos in front of an RS4 to add a touch of authenticity...

With a good clean (steam etc) they could come up nice. But as Jay says, the bolster is an expensive risk. Repairable if broken but not cheap...

Make an offer. Shame geography isn't on your side. Good luck.

Email the seller and asks why on earth he's removed one of the most desirable options from the car, most buyers wanting an RS4 B7 would look for - post back here...

Do none of your guys not share the view that inflating bolsters are a gimmick that 8 years on from inception have no real use unless you are a skinny bugger attacking the Route Napoleon.
