Aircon fault - high pressure sensor - where is it?

Post by drcarrera » Sat Apr 11, 2015 6:11 pm

Hi

My aircon's just stopped working and the Econ light is permanently lit.

VCDS came up with the following code :
High Pressure Sensor (G65)
07-10 Signal too low - Intermittent

So I guess it's either a faulty sensor or a loose connection. However, I can't find its location.
Is it something I can check / replace myself fairly easily or is it going to involve stripping off the front of the car to access?! Any advice gratefully received ...

Hi mate,

Found this, gives all the info you need

Hey... hope someone can help. Have done a quick search and cant seem to find a similar issue so hope im not repeating here.

Collected my RS4(B7) 2 weeks ago and already have an issue :(
The aircon suddenly stopped working, with the ECON button always illuminated. This was intermittent at first but never recovers now.
I invested in the Ross-tech lead and software and have found the following fault:
00819 - High Pressure Sensor (G65)
29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent

Does anyone know where the sensor is located? I would prefer to check the connection myself and even replace myself rather than go to an Audi dealer.

Thanks in Advance

Can't answer your questions I'm afraid.... but did you buy your car from an Audi Stealer ?
You have 30 days money-back to wave at them... if you did.

Good luck with sorting it.

Sorted it... wasnt as bad a job as I had expected.
Firstly I have a 3mth warrenty but I am a long way from the seller and cant do without the car at the moment.

I was able to buy a high pressure sensor from my local Audi garage for £52, came home, removed the front bumper and fitted the new sensor (which is located under the passanger headlight, screwed into a pipe on the end of the aircon rad)
The sensor is a dry-break type of fitting so no loss of pressure.

For those with Vag-com, the sensor was failing off high, (100% High pressure signal and 33bar refrigerant circuit pressure)
The new readings are 28.5 % High-Pressure Signal (G65), 8.0 bar Refrigerant Circuit Pressure

Hope this helps anyone else with a similar fail code in the future.
Now back to enjoying my new toy!!

If you go to the RS4 B7 forums and type in the search front bumper removal, just have a look through and one guy did all the photos to go with it, make sure when refitting you align it correctly ie top gap,

If you take a photo before hand you can see if you have refitted the same or made improvements

Hmmm... Can't find anything on these forums. A couple of guides elsewhere, although B7, not RS4 specific but hopefully will be similar.

If you search "clear corner mod" either here or Google (add a4 or rs4 for Google) and there are several good guides.
