Help! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics and adaptive lights video)
Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
Hummmm, ok where are you based ( if local i will pop round) also I have a pair of ballast for a A4 unit that mighty get round the issue; The other option is to take you're unit apart and have a look at what's broke and I may have what you need to fix them or you strip the new unit for parts.

Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
Thank you, located near Manchester. The complete black plastic frame around the xenon lamp has broken in several places, attaches to a combination of cogs, which I assume is the auto levelling mechanism. Im beginning to realise exactly how difficult sourcing a nearside headlight is for the 4
so may need to just order from TPS. Assuming I cannot order directly so will have to locate a motoring factor who does.

Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
Thank you very much! Think I will be ordering from here actually!!!
But first...reading as many threads has cast doubt in my mind as to weather mine are adaptive or not and I cannot for definate say yay or nay, although i'm 'rather' sure I dont. So will perform the startup test tonight and see if the one headlight that is in there also performs a side to side check. Unless someone knows for sure what part within the headlight (which I can now peer into!!!) would confirm whether or not mine have adaptive lights or not.
One more note, I was having a gander on AudiSRS and someone over there so happened to mention that all B7 RS4's have adaptive lights..
Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
They don't all have adaptive lights I don't think. Hopefully someone else can clarify for sure. If you can't tell whether it does the up, down, left right sweep on start up, try putting the option codes from the inside of your service book into this website http://igorweb.org/equidec/. It will decode the options for you and hence should say whethe you have adaptive lights (or one of the packages they were part of).flylife2k wrote:Thank you very much! Just to add to this, I just gave them a call to see if they did ballasts incase that is what I needed. They can't match up the Audi part numbers to their system as they are Bosch units. Bosch don't make this kind of item any longer apparently. However he did say get some pictures from the unit itself and they might them be able to tell the specs and match up to something else they can supply. They were very helpful, so I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
All RS4s had xenon but not adaptives as far as I know. Either the options list check or the start up test will confirm which type of lights you have. If the good light goes up and down then you just need to check for side to side movement, not sure if it has detected a problem it might disable the check though. Just a though, but if it goes up and down the I'd assume it will still try and go side to side if adaptive.
Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
Well if you do have the adaptive lights I would be somewhat surprised you never noticed them move plus I would have learned that none adaptive light still have the large ballast on the bottom.
Oh and I still think the smaller ballast might work or you might be able to use the frame holding the projector and fit it in to the RS4 housing (I know for a fact the mounting point are the same it's just the adaptive have additional workings on the frame but all mount the same.
Buy the way I'm in London so no joy with the popping round I'm afraid.
If you need to talk about it P.M. me and I will give you my number.
I have A4 Ballast in my draw at work was meant to put them on eBay but keep forgetting.

Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
None adaptive lights, I bought theses when I had my b6 looking to do a RS4 conversion on it I have a crap load of spares full set of doors plus another passenger door, two spare rear bumpers spare set of shocks and springs (one shock used now)
I also had A4 headlights which I have stripped down for parts and some other odds and sods.

Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
Ok cheers mate. If I need one, it will be adaptive lights. Currently I have no idea how to even change the pigging D1S xenon bulb.
Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
DPS are easy but you need to take the headlight out.

Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
Turns out I do have adaptive! After several attempts of startup and shutdown I parked one side on a wooden plank so one side was ever so slightly elevated and hey presto...
adaptive lights...

Thanks a bunch for the offer pal, London just a little too far else I would have definately taken you up on the offer! Marc replacing the D1S are really easy once the head lights out - taking the bumper off is relatively straight forward too!
Never noticed as I've never actually tried to notice, and the full check is not always performed on startup! Anyway so it seems the bigger ballast connector 'may' be attributed to the adaptive lights (although I can't see how or why)

Re: Help!! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics) !!!!
Ps also ordered a new set of D1S as the lights are out anyway and one(can't remember which one) had just recently started flickering
Re: Help! Incorrect Headlight (w\Pics and adaptive lights vi
Fitted the headlight this weekend gone, thank you to all!
So as already stated Magneti Marelli is much ...much cheaper than OEM, but are Identical (with the exception of the little Audi Sticker). The chap i spoke to when ordering informed me they manufacture the headlights for Audi! Now it's fitted, I appreciate a previous commend about replacing in pairs! The new head light looks much cleaner, bright and overall newer compared to the existing headlight. May sound a little odd but the adaptive headlight movement is literally obvious on the new headlight but I do not see it on the old, odd I know (yet the startup adjustment is on both). Maybe its just lense which has 'hazed' up making it less obvious
Anyway, so I will be order the offside headlight as well now, makes the car look much newer!
P.s running full LED upfront with the exception of the FOG lights. I have got the bulbs and resistors but the bulbs are running at 80W but the resistors are 50W which I purchased separately. I was unable to find 80W resistors and was hoping they would not issue a warning but not so unfortunately. Tried wiring the two resistors in parallel to give me 100W and that did the trick so more resistors ordered too. As you're all aware they do get very hot and would most likely melt the bumper so was thinking of fabricating a heat sink to mount them on (some idea's gotten from other forums) but there are many heatsink's easily had on the tinternet for a cheap price so watch this space (will most probably start another thread)
