It is indeed that car. No I never really wanted the buckets, as primarily it is our family car, and they take up more space. I've been looking round at what else is on offer for the same money if I have to return this one. TBH honest there is only one that catches my eye, looks in stunning condition, yet has 6 previous owners. This isnt the end of the world, so who knows.

I'd still rather keep this one, but i'm not willing to foot a big repair bill when the garage is responsible. My favourite colour, low milage, and amazing condition minus the knock. Current plan is to take it to the Audi health check tuesday morning, and see what they find. At least this way any faults found will be registered with Audi UK. Hopefully this will be enough to persuade the dodgy dealer to repair rather than refund. At least this way he will not be able to escape the faults as it will be logged and dated with Audi UK.

I'm willing to fight to get this car sorted, in a fair manner.

Ivan

The selling garage sounds like a :knob: as Rocket says, tough call really as its a nice car, but you don't know what's around the corner... And that could mean another great car, or more problems with this one . If it was me I'd have been annoyed and be taking it back for a FULL refund. It wouldn't suprise me if he tries to give you less given his attitude so far. Also wouldn't have full confidence in Audi's diagnostics. We've all heard stories of them saying. 'They all do that sir, it's a characteristic of the car'. Sounds strange that the knocking to be for the first ten minutes though.

Knocking from cold is low drc pressure, may be just a re gas,or it could have a weeping strut that needs doing plus re gas.he may get a tad more for the car but not a lot with it not having bucket seats.

I Firstly, as others have said - the difference between 2 owners and 3 is neither here nor there so stop worrying about that.

If it was me (and I have been in a similar situation with a previous car purchase) - screen shot the advert (if it's the same one prior to you buying the car). Take a copy of the log book and the Audi report - go and see the dealer and ask if they are willing to come to a compromise as the Audi report shows faults (if it does) and the car has more owners than advertised. If he won't budge I'd be explaining that you will be speaking to trading standards as the car is not as it was advertised. Regardless of whether a refund has been offered, trading standards do not like dealers who sell un-roadworthy cars (again - depends on the Audi report). Then there's the persistent reporting of his ads to Pistonheads and Autotrader etc (just to irritate him).

In my case I bought a car on the understanding that they did some work to it. When I went to collect it it appeared the work had been done - however it became apparent very quickly that it hadn't
The car also had 2 illegal front tyres (my fault - should've checked but didn't think it was necessary from a main franchise dealer). The garage refused to acknowledge that the work needed doing (to the point where the sales manager refused to talk to me on the phone - every time I called he was 'busy' - I got a female colleague to call him and magically he was free). I gave them a set time limit to authorise the work or get it sorted - I think I told them I wanted an answer by midday - that came and went so I called Trading Standards who took the details. Within an hour the garage was on the phone trying to sort it out - I explained it was too late and that they'd had their chance but now that TS were involved it was out of my hands. The guy explained that TS had already spoken to them and that they wanted to 'restore my faith in them'... The fact your guy is deliberately mis-selling the car should be enough to get the noses of TS twitching.....

Whatever happens - good luck!

Bit of an update today.

Car has been to Audi, OSF+NSR system was 1.2 bar, with both shocks leaking. At least this diagnoses the fault for sure. Now to see what the garage are willing to do, the ball is currently in their court.

Fingers crossed they may come good in the end

Compared to the spec of 15-18bar that's as good as de-pressurised.

I'd be worried about the condition of the valve block with the pressure that low - and that's the really expensive part to replace.

This gets better. He is refusing to repair at all. He is trying to bully me in to a refund, but refuses to cover the associated losses which he is legally bound to cover. He wants to collect friday. I've not asked for a refund, and don't want one, I want the car repaired.

Please bear in mind they have seen the Audi Cam videos of the 2 leaking shocks.

A mate rang up today to enquire about my car, as they still have it advertised on piston heads and ebay for sale. My mate was told that a customer bought the car for his wife as a surprise. however she cant handle the power, so it is being traded back in and they are finding her another car. They went on to describe that the car is in perfect condition and fault free. They are expecting my mate to view the car saturday. They told him that a minor leak has been identified on the suspension, but Audi have said that it just needs a clean up, as it is within acceptable limits.

What Audi actually advised in the videos they have seen, is that the shocks need immediate replacement.

The seller is aware that I have got citizens advice/trading standards involved, and is not the slightest bit interested.

I'm speechless

Geez. The guy is offering a full refund. Take it!

I'm pretty sure you can't demand it be fixed, just get your money back and walk away.

It's clearly not a good example as the DRC is pooped. Any owner or dealer who didn't notice that, won't have noticed a host of other things too.
