From Bucksburn to the Airport roundabout where national speed limit starts. There's also a straight @ Blackburn and several on the Cruden Bay road

I only ever do it in the wee hours around here. It's impossible with any other cars on the road.

The road to Alexandria at 5 in the morning with the Suntours driver at the wheel...... 180+ easy.

Just watch out for donkeys coming up the slip roads the wrong way.....

Guys, how one can log this test with VCDS?

I am familiar with their "acceleration" interface but it measures distance and/or speed, but no rpm thresholds.

Appreciated if one could elaborate please.

I think that is a smart way of doing the test i.e. with a GoPro and the lap computer

@ArthurPE, I've been reading back in this thread, and just discovered this post. Would you consider sharing the data points in your spreadsheet? It would be a great reference point.
ArthurPE wrote:8.5 to 8.8 sec is basically factory spec and what mags got when testing
using all gears for the same speed range 36-96 mph takes a bit over 8 sec, goes to show how flexible/elastic this engine is

start at 2000 rpm and ease into the throttle and try to hit full throttle ~2700 or so
do at least 3 or 4 runs on the same road, same day
and play with the OBC timer a bit before the runs to get familiar with it

I have a spreadsheet with over 200 runs and at least 60 cars, probably more that I have entered
people just send them to me, lol
need
temp
fuel load, 60% etc.
road grade, level, uphill, etc.
altitude (btw 8,8 at 550 m ASL is great, that is an 5-6% HP loss! much more than carbon, 20-25 HP)
cleaned or uncleaned

Ok so last night I decided to give the 3rd gear 3 to 8000rpm a test to see how the car performed.
I did 3 runs on the same flat road, 1st run 8.9 sec, 2nd run 8.8 sec, 3rd run 8.8 sec
So I'm a bit confused the car is performing the test in round about the correct time supposed to be 8.5 sec.
How could this be going on the dyno figures I got 291 at the flywheel.
Seems a bit strange to me that. Defo going to get it into Ecotune for a second opinion.
RS4 B7 Saloon Sprint Blue, Bilstein B14 Coilovers, Milltek Cat Back resonated non valved. Spacers 8mm F and 10mm R. Headlight clear zenon lens upgrade with 5500k bulbs plus indicator orange lens delete.

For cool-ish weather 8.8-8.9 seconds is off the pace a little but not hugely, they get slower as it gets warmer. I think a well running stock car can do 8.0-8.2 below degrees 10C.

But as this test goes all the way from 3K to 8K, you may only be losing power at the top end of the powerband giving you low peak numbers. A vacuum leak of some sorts and/or the power flap not opening can flatten out the power curve just as it's supposed to take off at high revs. That would give you low peak numbers but not a hugely slow car in this test which includes low end torque. That said, below 9s I would imagine it should be closer to 350 than 290. The dyno may have had such crap airflow that the car made a lot less than it would on the road.

I'm booked into Ecotech Hillington for another dyno run to compare against the figure I have just got. Funny you mention the vacuum leak as it did have one which was fixed after the first dyno run. It made 25 bhp more on the second run after the vacuum leak was sorted.
Looking forward to getting it on another dyno to compare the results.
