Hello guys, these are amazing motors, but the chains are a problem, that's my next project!

your thinking of the wrong engine , its the S4 that has the problem with the timing chains , the RS4 engine is totally different design for use at high rpm and has not had any problems i have heard of

Guy's, if you checked his previous posts you'll see that he has in fact stated he owns an RS4.

I'd say the chain problem is out of the ordinary, rather than an inherent RS4 issue.

I did see the OP and spotted he had a RS4 / I just assumed the problem was referenced to the S4 and it was indeed a mix up - or a one off issue.

I was waiting for another TTS owner to comment on this, cheers Danny. I do agree that the 11.4 time quoted by TTS is a tough one but is possible as in your old motor. You had any joy with the GTR sale?

33k is way OTT and there is definitely a load of sales guff going on in that advert IMHO.

Really? At approx 14k for a supplied, fitted and mapped TTS charger, 4k+? for a truly stunning brand new individual interior, brand new uprated brakes 3.5k, the and all the other numerous bits and pieces on the car it doesn't sound remotely OTT to me. Re sales guff, well I've known Nigel (Wrekka) for a few years now and he's a true RS4 enthusiast who knows these cars better than 95% of the folk on here, so although I haven't personally seen the car, I'd be very surprised if it was anything less than right. Yes the ad may be a little 'flowery' but hey he's trying to sell a car, of course he's going to make it sound good, everybody does when selling! Point here is, he's a long term B7 RS4 forum member not some dodgy first time poster trying to punt on some shady motor with a sketchy history.
Also, the comment about 600 ps being the " best" achievable power figure is incorrect. I've only heard of one car that didn't make the 600ps figure and that was a highish miles ( possibly uncleaned?)car. FWIW, My own car fitted with the TTS charger and no other mods than a full milltek/100 cell sports cats, dyno'd at 614 ps ; which equates to 605 bhp by the way.

I've also been looking an RS4, I've set myself a budget of 20k as I think that would pick up a pretty good example, I think the RS4 at 33k Is an unbelievable example but at that money it's a real petrol head/mod head he's looking to fork that out, personally it's too expensive unless your really into modifying. Think I'd rather spend the extra 13k on a new R1, but everyone's diff so wish you all the best, really is a nice motor
