I personally don't think warranties are worth the money - you would be far better off leaving a grand or so In a slush fund ready for any emergencies.

Take a look at the buying guide lots of useful info in there.

Things to consider when buying the car. Prices are rough. This is NOT an exhaustive list.

If its got 70K plus miles it'll probably need a clutch - you are looking around £1500
Factor in the same for a set of front and rear discs/pads if they have not been replaced in the past couple of years or so - but check the condition.
Look to see if the oil cooler has been replaced - a new one is not mandatory but they are known to fail - a complete replacement is around £1000
Check to see if DRC suspension is fully working [not leaking] or has been replaced by audi or check to see if a decent alternative - read KW V3 kit has been fitted.

Do yourself a favour, be prepared to travel country wide and buy one from a forum member!

Audi's warranties are administered by Allianz. I looked to warranty my 39,000 B7 saloon in December 13'. 0 Excess and comprehensive components with a cap of 15K miles a year was £1,674.40. That's a lot of cash should anything go wrong. This quote was for a car that has covered under 60k miles...

Warranty terms a PDF attached to the post...

I think if you have a full Audi service history, major components can still receive an amount of goodwill from Audi (at their discretion of course) so the warranty is a little academic. If you buy from a Audi dealer, warranty is a non issue at the time of purchase. You can extend that at a cost a deal less than the above. An indie, certainly get a warranty - even if it's 3 months then get it straight in to MRC/Unit 20 or alike for a health check - especially then you have a bit of come back on any issues you can't check yourself...

Buy wisely first off, check EVERYTHING, read the stickies (viewtopic.php?t=90255)

Took me 2 days by train to get mine and then drive back - distance is not an issue if you find the right one.

Good luck.

Been with out a warranty for 3 years. At 72k. They are wonderful cars. Selling to my brother. He knows the car and. The history. That is key. Buy from a forum member. There is one in Florida. A 2007 red black. With only 10k. Miles. It's super clean.
