Buyer beware ebay

Post by Regy53 » Wed May 28, 2014 9:34 pm

Hello All,

Just thought I would mention a car that is on ebay at present.

I am looking for a avant RS4 and when this was listed I went all, well goey... It was a cat D but we all know how that can happen (stolen seats)

So I called the fella and kind of organised a viewing with him wanting 15k for the car. He explained the the car had been stolen and striped for bits. However was recovered and put back to how it should be hence cat D

I HPI'd the car to be sure, and it registered stolen recovered and Cat C. He person seemed surprised by this. Anyway as it was well within budget I went to view today. Sadly I belive this car has been stolen recovered with front impact damage. The front slam panel is not straight or true near the wings, the lights seem mis fitted and part of the arch liner is very loose. It is fairly clean but I noticed he has not changed the Cat D remarks online

just thought some of you may wish to know?

cheers
Ross

definitely looks high at the back for SS. I can hardly get my hands on top of the tyres with SS. Also looks to have black optics, but a silver front grill. Smacks of a careless repair.
8L S3 with stage 2 (gone)
B7 A4 DTM (gone)
B7 RS4 (Miltek Res Valved, 100 cell cats, Ceramics, Carbon cleaned) gone

Well I've asked eBay to tell the seller that it is a Cat C not D and they will either have to revise the listing or withdraw it.

Great idea, would be a real shame for someone buying without researching (which is bad of course) but still would be wrong for someone to get stung

I went to view this last week before he went away.

Genuinely if you do go and view it looks a nice car from a cars distance away, It is cheap but when you add up what it needs it works out expensive considering its a cat C and not D as advertised.

4 tyres
front discs
needed soon
Rear lights lense is cracked / chipped

interior is not as clean as you would think for the miles infact its worse than the 77k mile car I just bought

He told me many times over that it went to audi to have parts put back on as they were stolen hence the cat D that turns out to a Cat C. I believe this is incorrect and a lie. The front slam panel is bent, take a look at where the wings meet the slam panel. These should be straight. They are not. The front head lights which were apparently replaced at Audi have different bolts holding them in place? I doubt audi would do this. i.e not all of them match

There is a scuff to the drivers side wing not in the pics that will not buff out.

IMO the seller wreaked of somebody who bought it and did it up. That said he showed me the log book and it did have the owners described.

The seller told me he did the rear brakes but upon viewing other cars it was obvious he did not, the pad is only touching part of the disc the rest is rusty

I went up there with the intention to buy and drive away. I am glad I walked away and would not go back despite the price.

IMO it was stolen, and front ended then recovered and written of as a CAT C.

a pic or two boot gap was poor

also the lines do not add up on the bumper. He tried to convince me otherwise. The lights overhang the car. The drivers side wing cover is lose? it just is not good
