It's a tad rawer and mines a bit raspier on startup.
You need a remap to make the best of removed/gutted precats though.

I agree - raspier but not that much louder.TonyHayers wrote:It's a tad rawer and mines a bit raspier on startup.

+1 on the re-map with pre-cats removed - the only way forward...

The more I read about this the more it seems like a great mod with stage 2. Lots of plus with limited negatives.TonyHayers wrote:It's a tad rawer and mines a bit raspier on startup.

My exhaust flaps don't operate any more, I think they have been brazed or welded open because no amount of WD40/oil/penetrating fluid/olive oil/KY could free them up. Not complaining as I love the sound.
With permanently open exhaust flaps, and gutted pre-cats will the noise be too much and will there be any drone? I can drive "around" low RPM drone.
Thanks.

Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
Hi - no noticeable difference in ride comfort or cornering etc for me. I'll try and get a photo sorted. Quite a lot of people run them, so there might already be some pics in the forum. My only bugbear is that the springs reduce ride height in the same proportion as standard, which means that the front sits slightly higher than the rear for my liking.Stevec33 wrote:@tony- sorry to thread hi jack but noticed in your sig that you are running the h&r lowering springs, how do you rate them? It has no place in this thread, but equally has no merit for a fresh post, - but clean headlamp inners - FARK!

Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
Any actual performance testing between the two cars, or are you just talking about dyno results per usual? (on the shop' selling the parts' dyno, no less)neilparf wrote:That Silas speaks the truth - I didn't see the signature spec.Silas wrote:Don't take this the wrong way But!!! You took yours to AMD.
Nuff said MRC for the win and the power+the map
Sorry Reg, take the AMD map off and see how MRC's map goes...

Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
I have first hand experience with going from an AmD map to a MRC one, on our old 225 BAM S3. On paper, the car came back from MRC last August with less HP and about the same torque as the AmD graph, but all the niggles through the rev range were gone, the engine was noticeably happier with life and pulled like a train, the performance of the car blew the AmD map out of the water.
Madam could tell a night & day difference and that is saying something, I personally think AmD mapped her on the lean side. I wasn't really aware of the map issues as I never drove that car, I always raped it around (and when I say raped it, I battered that engine on every trip and she just gave and gave, god I miss that car) in our MRC'd BAM Cupra by choice when I fancied a hoonmobile trip.
I have nothing against AmD at all, but I personally would never have one of their maps on any of our cars again.

I had an AMD map on the 4 and then MRCI have nothing against AmD at all, but I personally would never have one of their maps on any of our cars again.
There is no comparison, MRC 10 times better

Great (subjective) feedback from someone with experience of both. Always valuable for the forums.Silas wrote:I had an AMD map on the 4 and then MRCI have nothing against AmD at all, but I personally would never have one of their maps on any of our cars again.

Has anyone done any quantitative tires to tarmac performance testing to compare the AMD to MRC remaps? Any head to head races on the straight at a road course or at Santa pod, or any PBOX testing? Anything?
