CustomCode map?
Does anyone have the CustomCode phase 1 map? Any experience good or bad?
My car's getting a custom exhaust done in a couple of weeks and will likely need a remap to sort the pre-cat removal. The place doing the fabrication is a Revo dealer/agent, but I've heard/read bad things about them, and sending the car down to MRC is hard to justify just for a map. There's a garage near me that's a CustomCode agent, and I've seen they do an RS4 map, so was planning on maybe going that route instead.

Re: CustomCode map?
Not heard of an RS4 with a custom code map. There's a good reason many make the journey to Doug at MRC - thier maps are spot on and and with a stage 2 which is what I suspect you'll need it includes rolling road too. Bloody hell, a phase 1 custom Code map is £550 and claiming 21-31 bhp increase? Really? You'd need a lot more than generic map to even get near that...
Mrc stage 2 is £650 including dyno time and that's stage 2 modelled for your car.
MRC stage 2 for me...

Re: CustomCode map?
JBS/Custom Code really know their stuff. I believe the guy who does the remaps owned a b7 too.
jaysrs4 has had JBS maps before.
They're also the only people I've seen who have got on-the-fly map switching working.

Oooh!
That made my trousers get a little tighter!!! LoL

I've finally got my head together but now my body is falling apart!
Re: CustomCode map?
I've used James at JBS for years - however I am tempted by MRC purely because of their experience. (Don;t think James would be happy me saying that!) he's a very clever lad.

I'm sure they are and put head to head would anyone notice the difference between the two maps?jaysrs4 wrote:I've used James at JBS for years - however I am tempted by MRC purely because of their experience. (Don;t think James would be happy me saying that!) he's a very clever lad.
The problem is, MRC has the traction backed by the experience and it's almost the 'go to' for a map on a RS4. That just reinforces the cycle. When you want to drop £650 on a map, one wants it to be on the money and spot on when you drive away. I'm sure JBS has the same quality product, but MRC seem to dominate with their maps...

Re: CustomCode map?
I've had a CustomCode Map for nearly a year now, can't fault it.

Re: CustomCode map?
What are the differences between this one and the OEM map? Does it have an aggressive sport mode like the MRC map? Generally MRC maps are popular because of how they drive in sport mode. That and the fact that most people feel comfortable knowing that their car won't come back with any problems and if it does develop anything unusual they have the knowledge to quickly sort it.BigTRS4 wrote:I've had a CustomCode Map for nearly a year now, can't fault it.
Re: CustomCode map?
If i were rich...
I would get a remap done at JBS.... Test the vehicle thoroughly....
Remap it with MRC....... test it thoroughly.....
Remap it with ABT..... test it thoroughly...
Remap it with QST...... test it thoroughly.....
Review the paperwork and make my choice and findings thereafter!
Hmmmmmmm....... I'm only £1995 short of the £2K required! Anyone help??? LoL
Wait..... Do remappers think we have bad memories> Why all the three-letter abbreviations??? LoL

Re: CustomCode map?
I would say that it feels smoother than the standard OEM map especially when changing between 1st and 2nd. When you are in sports mode it does have an aggressive feel but not harsh, the throttle is very responsive/linear and the car just wants to go.MikeFish wrote:What are the differences between this one and the OEM map?
