New golf r vs rs4

Post by joinery80 » Mon Mar 24, 2014 8:32 am

We'll got my car yesterday and am overall impressed
Only the seats are disappointing imo for a 34k car they surly should be leather.
the pro nav is excellent and apart from seats interior is best I have sat in
as far as performance goes it is very impressive in race mode and was very surprised by the sound it makes sort of a v6 growl.
I would say performance is not far off that of the rs4 certainly when it's run in it will only get stronger.
looks wise it looks plain there are just small clues as to what it is especially in white, but saying that it got alot of attention parked in town yesterday.
pros- interior and performance

Cons- seats not good enough
Very harsh ride compared to rs4

When they dreamt up the name Golf R, someone missed the "E" out

Agreed.

But on a two year lease the cost of c.£8k for a brand new car (inc. VED)

That can't be sniffed at.

Kind of - I think the Mc is cleverer than that - I was led to believe these had a duct (or two ducts) from the engine bay into the back of the interior bulkhead with a flap to open / close to let more noise into the interior / make the interior quiet? Explains perhaps why the sound is more of a resonance than a pure engine sound.

Say one of these yesterday....it looked like a 2.0 diesel.

And the four zorsts look a bit max power for me...it's a 4 pot FFS!

I would have kept 4 or as said RS3???....just for the 5 pot rumble.

Good luck with it though...world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things eh?
