Gutted :( at least you have good neighbours and managed to get his details. Sounds like a liability, hope they take his licence.

Nightmare!

I'm well in favour of a compulsory re-test every 10 years for old folk.

I think everyone should have a medical every 5 years. This would get rid of people who can not see and do not have enough body flexibility to turn their heads. Retests should be applied across the board for anyone convicted of dangerous or drunk driving. Having a HGV licence means we have to do a drivers CPC which involves 7 hrs of training every year plus when you reach 65 a medical every year. Soon you will not be an OAP until you are 75 if the government has their way!!!

I feel for you.

Been without my car for two weeks now, was returning to my car to watch a taxi mini van reverse into the side. Audi uk and Germany currently have no stock of drivers doors, so god only knows when it will be back.

Driving a horrible BMW 320d estate at the moment.

Plus sides: at least It happened as I was returning to the car, have a feeling he would have just driven off otherwise.

Admiral claims service has been top notch, very fast, Curtisey car delivered and my car picked up same day I rang them. All being done though Albany so doesn't effect no claims etc.

I had to take the keys off an older guy in car once.
It was in swindon hospital, which is pretty tightly packed for parking spots and he was in an old 5 series that was literally scratched to pieces where the guy just couldn't drive a car let alone a car that size. I got back to my car and I was sitting there making a phone call when I saw him pull into the section of the car park I was in. He made a hash of trying to park into a spot and just scraped the front end of his car down the side of another. He had a quick look around to see if anyone had noticed and then drove off to find another spot. He then scraped the corner of another car on the end of the row turning a corner too tight and then reversed into another trying to park again !. I did the same as you - I opened his door, lent in and just took his keys off him, I pretty much nearly got into a punch up with what I assume was his son and they both denied anything had happened. Luckily someone called the hospital security as at one point I had the son over the bonnet of the car by the throat and the security called the police who watched the cameras.
By the look of the variety of colours of paint scratches he had on his car from car park incidents, he'd been doing it for ages.
I'd have been absolutely livid if I'd have come out to find someone had done that to my car.

Funnily enough, it turned out when they checked his records of hospital visits, it'd happened a couple of days before at his last visit in the disabled bays (he wasn't disabled) and that he'd also skimmed another car in the disabled bays on the day I'd caught him that they later found on the camera footage

I really f'ing hate people like that, but luckily for the driving public, he had his license removed as this was one of several cases he had of driving with no tax, mot or insurance. Where that leaves the people who's car he hit, I don't know.
