Prindiville Exhaust

Post by MarcusDubya77 » Sat Jan 25, 2014 1:11 am

I have made contact with Prindiville Performance about possibly builind a Titanium exhaust for my RS4 I live in the US and haven't been successful in finding anyone with experience with them. Anyone on here had dealings with them or reviews of their products? Any help would be great!

Why would you buy titanium when there's better tried and tested out there? Sure it may be a bit lighter than SS but titanium is known to crack and the weight saving would be negligible at best

I had a Titanium exhaust on my Evo X that held up very well in the climatic shifts of Colorado. It survived temps well below zero to upwards of 100. Besides, I am not rallying or doing anything that would really subjest it to brutal conditions. I have always enjoyed the exhaust tone better than SS. The price is pretty comparible to the other high end options in SS.

I understand that JHM is great. My car is there right now being Supercharged, but I am just exploring the option of a Titanium exhaust. Moreover, one from Prindivlle and am just trying to see if anyone has dealings with them.

I highly doubt you will find someone who's had experience with a titanium exhaust and I've never seen that company mentioned. Your wasting your time and money but ITS YOUR car so your entitled to do so. Can't understand why you won't go for the jhm one if they are sticking a blower on your car? If jhm was easier to get in the uk I reckon most people would use it

Like you said...It is my car..I am not totally taking JHM out of the picture, but I would prefer a Ti exhaust. I don't plan on dragging it, and I am betting they (Prindiville) can get the diameter up to 2.75...In the end most differences between exhausts are negligible 5-10 WHP, so I will be ok..I just love the sound of a Ti exhaust which is half of the reason people choose their exhausts to begin with..This thread is not about trying to convince me why I shouldn't get one..It is a simple question about having dealt with Prindiville..So, if your answer has nothing to do with it then just bury it deep down inside of yourself and don't post it here..Thank you... :)

Been reading lots of threads about exhausts on American forums... And all it turns out to be is a bitch fight.... Why are you yanks so confrontational... Chill out dude.... I've seen the thread were Sakamino told you to try here.... You won't get nowhere with an attitude like that.... Leave it over the pond.... :biggrin3:

How about you blow me? That sounds good. Why don't you listen to what people are saying regarding a ti exhaust? Hopefully you get one and it cracks I'll piss myself laughing

Amazing...great response...thanks for the help...you keep neglecting the fact that I have owned a Ti exhaust which NEVER CRACKED....I am sure you must have experience with one based off of your response... I guess I will talk directly to the source instead of dealing with this bullshit..thanks again!BTW..you might want to update your sig...

Marcus I think what people are trying to tell you is

1. Your previous one experience with a titanium exhaust, while a good one, is not typical and shouldn't lead you to extrapolate that it will always be this way with titanium. Loads of people have issues with the material. In fact the owner of an exhaust company who makes RS4 exhausts, and who tried to make a titanium rs4 exhaust told you to avoid it. A Porsche GT3 owner and someone who is very well connected with the Porsche community (where OEM ti exhausts are famous for failing) no less.

2. If you're interested in sound, and putting sound as your main reason, ahead of reliability, cost, and performance, shouldn't you want to actually hear a Ti exhaust on an RS4 first before declaring it the better sounding option? Your old car was a four cylinder turbo motor. Your current car is a supercharged V8. Aurally, those two couldn't be more different. Maybe ti on your car will make it sound too high pitched and fart-can-ish? Who knows? Further your old ti exhaust was attached to a 300 lb engine with one bank of cylinders. The rs4 is over 400 lbs, has two banks and twists and torques like mad...especially when making some 525+hp like yours does. Shouldn't that be something to consider? the flat 6 in the GT3 and GT2 makes mincemeat of OEM Porsche quality titanium exhaust.

3. If titanium exhausts really did sound so great and were a good choice on the RS4, don't you think there would be one for sale somewhere that people have actually purchased? I would submit that I've read more about the rs4 on forums worldwide than anyone on the planet...and I have NEVER seen/heard one with titanium exhaust. Not here, not on US forums, not on YouTube. Never.

Well done saki if they sounded that great we would all have them. There's clearly no market for a TI exhaust. Can't be arsed updating my sig I sold the car over a year ago :). I quite like the fact that I held that record so I'll leave it as is

I thought Inconel was the 'must have' exotic metal for exhausts.

Anyway here is an RS5 with an Inconel exhaust from Kline

I do like rainbow effect you get after heat cycles on titanium exhausts... But have heard similar horror stories.

Personally,

I love the sound of Ti exhausts.

And whilst I bow to Sak's knowledge on RS4's I would just point out that GTR's the world over have MANY titanium options, make shed loads more power than any RS Audis, weigh about the same with a similar geartrain and engine size/layout, while create significantly more loads for them to deal with thanks to the vast increase in performance a GTR has over an RSxxx, yet they are not derided like on here.

So while the OP might come across a bit determined to think outside the accepted Audi envelope I think there's several on this thread that need to wind their necks in and realise whats out there in the big wide world !!

And 11.4@125 is pathetic in the terms of a fast car, let alone any kind of a "performance record" worth shouting about - maybe 10+ years ago, but I wouldn't have it as my signature.

FON I believe !!
